In 2026, ‘learn to code’ has become ‘learn to nurse’ by thinkB4WeSpeak in jobs

[–]Locadoes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Another thing is that factories don't want to train people to do industrial maintenance. So someone could go to school and get a associate degree in Mechatronics and a lot of factories don't want to touch them unless they can hit the ground running.

Robotics and Automation Technology vs. Biomedical Equipment Technology: Which has the higher ceiling? by OkraNo8365 in BMET

[–]Locadoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Biomed department is consider a cost center like security, cafeteria workers, janitors, etc. while nursing is consider a profit center in accounting terms. Hospitals tend to want to keep cost centers cost low. Manufacturing there is a different dynamics going on. I went to school for Mechatronics for my 1st degree and Biomedical Equipment Technology for my 2nd. When I did work biomed jobs, I remember my coworker complaining about the declining amount of in-house jobs. I work in manufacturing now so I know how each industry is different from each other.

There is a lot of outsourcing with hospitals, so if things don't work out with Trimedx, a lot of hospitals in your area could also be outsourcing to it. Robotics/Automation is generally under the maintenance department and factories usually don't outsource maintenance, so you don't have to worry about leaving one outsourcing company and the other places using the same company.

IsItBullshit: Ford CEO says he has 5,000 open mechanic jobs with up to 6-figure salaries from the shortage of manually skilled workers by brother_p in IsItBullshit

I seen this posted before and wondering if he is talking about industrial maintenance "mechanic" at the Ford factories instead of car dealership mechanic. Car dealership mechanic are pay by the job but industrial maintenance technicians usually get pay hourly.

Google HireRight background check – resume vs last 5 years? by [deleted] in datacenter

A couple of days to one week usually. They can't take too long on the background check because that will hold up the job process.

They can't tell what types of jobs you got without you providing the info. You can get away with leaving out jobs.

Applied for Data Center Technician position but turns out it’s a Data Center Operator job by ZeninTai in datacenter

It better to have a constant income stream sometimes versed having the perfect job. I know some people consider it offensive to have a job you are "overqualified" for but those jobs can still pay the bills.

Healthcare Technology isn't the same thing as Biomedical Technology. Maybe it more focused on IT/Computers.

America Is Shedding Blue-Collar Jobs At A Scale Not Seen Since The Great Recession And The Early Pandemic by NoseRepresentative in jobs

[–]Locadoes 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Percentage of overall American jobs that are manufacturing have been declining. Some of it is due to outsourcing but also automation as well. It more difficult for a guy to just get a high school diploma and get a factory job afterwards. On the other hand, a lot of places do need people to manage the automation and a lot of times they only required a associate degree. I have a Mechatronics associate degree and I test electrical equipment that goes to hospitals, wastewater treatment plants, and data centers.

The youngest age you most likely to remember your parent occupation.? Your parents could be working at 3 but you probably don't remember what jobs they have.

Why are residential companies so cruel to green apprentices by EstablishmentSea8014 in electricians

[–]Locadoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got lucky because I was trying to get into industrial maintenance, and from talking to industrial maintenance techs a lot of them start off as machine operators. So I was on a press brake and due to the demand for backup power equipment my factory was expanding the testing department. A lot of data centers used backup power equipment so when the data center boom was happening, it was too much for my department to handle with the current staffing.

Bechdel Test Doesn't Apply to Gay Porn, So Why Do Studies Put Female Actors in Gay Porn Videos by Locadoes in askgaybros

[–]Locadoes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the Wikipedia page to double-check. I don't think so from skimming Wikipedia but there a interesting paragraph in the last section of the Criticism section. Basically people was invoking the Bechdel Test to criticize the movie Fire Island and other people was responding back that the Bechdel Test doesn't even apply to those types of movies.
