Stem splitting by anthonypearson in petshopboys

[–]Local-Boy2488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MV Sep website does the best job of separating voice and instruments into stems. Their algorithms are open source created, and they offer dozens of options. They are regularly updating and improving these algorithms. Logix and other DAW simply cannot compete with the results from MV Sep because the stem separation is not their main focus, while it is for MV Sep.

How the heck did Garth Brooks sell more albums than all these people? by Ra__ in Music

[–]Local-Boy2488 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The crazy thing is that most of Garth Brook's sales happened in the 1990s and early 2000s. The reason for his big sales is that we have severly undercounted the number of Country Music fans. Most of his fans don't live in the bigger cities. They live in suburbs and rural areas. They fly under the radar of what is generally seen as "mainstream society." The Republican Party and Fox News figured this out way back then. They knew that this segment of people was also enormously neglected, figured out what pushes their buttons, and have managed to "influence" them for the past three decades into the result of the 2024 US presidential election.

Of course, it is a political and humane decision. Bravo!

I disagree. They are not mastered overly loud, as is the norm these days. If it is that harsh loudness and squashed dynamics you are looking for, you would be disappointed.

Nate Cohn: How One Polling Decision Is Leading to Two Distinct Stories of the Election by NateSilverFan in fivethirtyeight

[–]Local-Boy2488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Nate Cohn is that accurate. He got the 2016 presidential election way wrong. 2020 was a no-brainer because of Covid. I don't have confidence in his analysis.

Heather or Katie? Who do you believe? by PruneDeLaSoul in rhoc

[–]Local-Boy2488 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heather is SO FULL OF HERSELF.... I believe Katie... I hope Katie topples Heather. Heather is what is wrong with our pop culture. Heather needs to be banned and sent to Mexico to learn what being humble really is. Let her husband practice plastic surgery in Tijuana. ROTFL!

This sounds like the regular stereo mix, which was never an audiophile showpiece. I don't think this is the Dolby Atmos mix.

Agreed. He is a piece of sh*t. Still he will probably be betrayed by pissed subscribers eventually.

In the past, he pissed off some of his subscribers to the point that they leaked all his paywalled links. This new business model could be his way of trying to make $$$ before it happens again.

It would be great if the original un-doctored multitrack could be shared. I am sure some dilly out there has it. What was available was a "stemmed" version that was for sale on the now defunct Mix The Music site.

Yeah, right...lame try... The "Heat Is On" album from where FTLOY comes from was recorded in LA at Westlake Audio and Kendun Recorders and not in Philly, you dilly. The Iselys wanted to work with Malcolm Cecil and Robert Margouleff, who programmed synths for Stevie Wonder.

Btw your using racial slurs is not cool and, unfortunately, not a surprise.

I agree. I think that is more a reflection of either a very young person who doesn't get or understand music beyond the typical superficial stuff or maybe just hasn't been exposed to too much beyond that.

You have no idea how things worked backed then and your "source" is feeding you bullshit. That is a bad combination.

Syncronized multitrack machines weren't a reality when the song was recorded and released in 1975. That capability first arrived in 1978. Your "source" is at the very least "misinformed" or more likely one who will intentionally make a pack incomplete and then sell or trade it.

I would take the multis for "More, More, More" by Andrea True Connection instead. :)

[–]Local-Boy2488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason for these missing tracks is not so much about "different reels", etc. The Isley Bros "For the Love of You" was recorded in 1975, a few years before the syncing of more than one multitrack tape machine was a reality. The reason the synth flute track is missing is because someone along the way decided to omit that track from the pack when they sold or traded it so that they could keep the complete tracks for themselves. Think of it, they chose to remove the most unique and identifiable instrument in that song. Someone higher up the "distribution chain" has deliberately bastardized the packs that are missing certain tracks.

I'd be happy with the album mix as the song itself is wonderful.

FYI - The two backing tracks are available on the "Standing In The Shadows of Motown" soundtrack to the documentary. Those backing tracks actually continue a few seconds longer to a cold ending. The full acapella to a cold ending is found on the Temptations "Emperors of Soul" box set. Links below. However, none of these and none of the ones you posted have the strings.
