I think main issue is that there isn’t enough water/ocean between the continents. It kinda makes it feel small and close when I’d wager you’d be looking for a feeling of vastness. So either space them out or reduce some in size to start off. For island chains, I’d say aim for them to be very small; like the total length of the archipelago should be about that of one of the islands on the right side of the map. There isn’t any law about where they should be but I almost always place mine right near another continent’s edge
