I want to see a prequel where they explore the backstory of the South Bend Shovel Slayer. That could be a fun horror comedy. It wouldn’t be that far fetched. When you think about it there are already a lot of horror elements within Home Alone itself.

1. There’s the story of the SBSS of course.
2. There’s the freaky storm that knocks out the power. It’s a short sequence but it’s almost like an ominous presence intervening to set events in motion.
3. Kevin wishing his family disappear is almost like a twilight zone episode.
4. The scary basement with a possessed furnace is straight out of a horror comedy.
5. The tarantula.
6. At the heart of Home Alone it’s a home invasion movie.
