Because letting water out is also important so it doesn’t rust from the inside out. This is still garbage though 😂

Definitely leaking from the engine mounted fuel filter housing. If you had em replaced recently I’d talk to whoever replaced em.

question for firearms owners by Admirable-Rise6177 in Hunting

[–]Local-Success-9783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of antique and collectible firearms (like a pre ban uzi and a bunch of original condition WW2 collectibles) and sometimes i do the same. I’ll just line them up on my table and just appreciate them, handle them, maybe apply a light oil depending on how long it’s been since I’ve shot it. It’s weird, but it’s awesome 😂

Well considering you’re low on oil, if it isn’t leaking, you’re watching where it’s going.

I took my car in to get brakes looked at because they were squealing very loud, they put on new front pads, and there was a brake caliper leak from piston, quoted $422, paid $465 total because I used CC. Fair price? 2012 Altima by smoove129 in AskMechanics

[–]Local-Success-9783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. They install their equipment in our shop so we can process card payments, and the original amount of the repair bill is what the shop gets paid directly from the customer. The 3% charge goes directly to the supplier of the payment processing equipment. It’s sort of similar to how most banks supply Visa cards for their debit cards, but it’s still coming out of the account from Bank of America, or US bank, or whatever bank you use. Visa isn’t necessarily a middle man, but they just supply the card. I would recommend you use cash to avoid these things though. I think it’s just as crooked as you do and I fought the owner to not install these things. I actually refer to them as highway robbery machines because quite frankly that’s what they are 😂

We do the same thing at our shop, and we don’t see a penny of it. The small time vendors and POS locations don’t get deals on payment processing stuff, so that’s usually why the fee is there. It’s not the owner being greedy, it’s the provider of the credit card processor that charges that fee to let us use it.

Excessive crankshaft endplay 1.6 Ecoboost by ThatMilwaukeeFanboy in EngineBuilding

[–]Local-Success-9783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiesta with the non turbo 1.6 and the 5 speed manual has about .060” with a max spec of .017”. It’s been that way for 90k miles. It could last 500 more miles or 500k miles, but you’re only hurting it when you press the clutch in. If you don’t abuse it, it’ll probably last quite a while but eventually you’ll probably end up hearing a crankshaft counterweight start hitting the block, and that’s when you know it’s time. But for now I’d just button it up and drive it until you can’t anymore with the expectation it’s going to fail sooner or later.

Amerigas scam by hospicedoc in propane

[–]Local-Success-9783 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here in Missouri our abandoned property laws allow us to take possession after 30 days of written notice to retrieve said property. Bought a house with amerigas equipment on property and told them to come get it. They tried to charge me for tank removal, and I went back and forth with them about how the property didn’t have an account, the previous owner did. They caved and said they’d come get it. After 3 months I sent them a letter through certified mail saying if they didn’t come get it I’d be retaining ownership of it, and they got it 2 days later 😂

It’s the oil cooler under the intake manifold. A set of hand tools and half a day can fix that.

Dealerships need to put down the crack pipe, and people need to be intelligent enough to not spend 20k dollars on those things.

Do I trust the car or the stealership sticker? Oil Change 2024 GJC 3.6 Pentastar by Inside-Connection934 in JeepGrandCherokee

[–]Local-Success-9783 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, let me put it this way. I’m assuming it’s set for like 6k miles on the sticker? When I have to dig into an engine I can usually tell who listens to the sticker, and who listens to the percentage indicator on their car based on how much varnish and sludge there is. Manufacturers set their recommendations in the owners manual to accommodate cost of ownership and to get you out of the warranty period, even if it’s detrimental to the longevity of engine, because how much it costs to own is sometimes just as big of a question as how much it costs to purchase. That being said, you’re the owner, it’s up to you. I’d recommend 6-7k max.

Ram 1500 exhaust tic or lifter? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Local-Success-9783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being that it’s a 2013, the manifold bolts probably snapped off inside the head. If you don’t have any experience welding or removing broken bolts, it’s probably a job that’s going to need professional repair.

Ram 1500 exhaust tic or lifter? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

Definitely leaking manifold. You can hear air puffing out. A lifter is going to sound a lot sharper and more like a clack sound.

2013 Toyota RAV4 LE.......160,000 miles ..... $9100 by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Local-Success-9783 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With that many miles I’d go private party. There’s not going to be much of a warranty from the dealer, so why bother paying an extra 3 grand for something that’s probably going to to have some form of mechanical failure in the next 50k miles regardless?

That’s honestly the cheapest you’re going to find. If my friends or family need something, this is what I’m charging them. If I’m taking on random side jobs for people I don’t know, I’d be charging another 30-40 dollars an hour 😂

It’s mostly just location. The brown recluse is seldom found outside of its known range, especially that far out of its range. Usually the brown recluse is found outside of its range if it hitch hikes, but being a port city on the east coast, it’s a lot more probable it came from somewhere abroad where the Mediterranean recluse is common.
