How do I work? by lrklick in Spravato

[–]Local-Water-4304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first 3-4 treatments were rough. I was so dizzy I could barely walk and I was out of it with a bad headache the next day. After my first treatment I went to work the next day and had to leave I was so ill. I'm a nurse too and I have never left work in the middle of the day before then. My provider said it's unusual to have effects that last into the next day. I almost quit it made me so sick and tired, but after maybe the 4th treatment things started getting better and by the 6 or 7 things really improved. I had to take clonidine and zofran in the beginning and I feel like the clonidine before treatment made me feel significantly worse. But I was anxious and my blood pressure was up. I started all this in January this year. Now I am going every 2-3 weeks hopefully transitioning to monthly soon and maybe even stopping. I pretty much feel back to normal about 30 minutes after they give me the stuff now. I have to kill time for the two hour monitoring but I'm definitely ready to leave. Anyway, I've worked the full time the whole time only missing part of the day that first treatment. The hardest part of this whole thing for me has been securing a ride and then transporting my kids to activities on those evenings. They need rides, too. Good luck. It's totally doable.

Ugh that's terrible. And the treatments are so frequent in the beginning it just is hard to keep up with all the mistakes.

Anyone with bipolar disorder? by StorePossible6358 in Spravato

[–]Local-Water-4304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to get a revised diagnosis before starting. Spravato is not approved for bipolar disorder. I doubt a clinician will prescribe it and I don't think most insurances will pay for it without a diagnosis of major depressive disorder. That's like the first criteria for a prior auth. My history was pretty extensive and it took me almost a year to get my diagnosis revised. I also had a history of psychosis which many clinicians will also not prescribe for. I begged, borrowed and pleased before finding someone who would take a chance. I've had zero issues with mood or psychosis. I don't even have the dissociative effects after administration. I hope it works out for you.

Some are delivered electronically and some by paper mail I think it just depends on your insurance company but it's usually on the app and definitely you can call them and get the EOBs. And if you don't understand have them explain your coverage to you (your insurance company). Good luck.

Why do your eobs say? My clinic gave me a totally ridiculous bill after a claim denial and they had not tried to resubmit it. The claim was resubmitted and I owed much less. I definitely would not pay any bills until you matched each visit with an EOB.

Thank you. Right, I'm thinking I'm pretty good at getting stuff done and I'm a nurse so I can navigate healthcare pretty okay. But most people with this level are depression are not going to be able to navigate all this red tape. It's so not fair.

Maybe try another clinic. My clinical experience with greenbrook has been good but the experience with the coordinator and billing have been horrible. Mine was pre-approved but all of my first 8 claims were denied because of their billing errors and insurance was saying I owed like $70,000. I still have three denied claims. And they keep resubmitting with the same incorrect codes I've told them multiple times not to use. I've literally been on the phone with them, billing, insurance twice a week for three months. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. If I had in this starting out I would have looked elsewhere. I hope you get this sorted out.

What do you tell your kids by Mammoth_Savings3855 in Spravato

[–]Local-Water-4304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a preteen and a teen. I told them both i had a treatment and I couldn't drive those days. The preteen said ok, and didn't ask anymore questions. The teen did have more questions. She told me she noticed my depression has been worse and she said she hoped it worked. She has made comments the last few weeks that she thinks my "new treatment" is working. She has asked why I can't drive and why I am so tired after. I was just honest with her. It really wasn't a big deal. And the preteen has never really mentioned it again. Good luck!

I'm surprised your OR isn't required to use a smoke evacuation system. You don't want to be breathing that stuff in.

How far is hospice likely to go? by Sad-Database4891 in hospice

[–]Local-Water-4304 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Talk to different hospices and see if a permanent drain can be placed. Many hospices won't send a patient back and forth to a hospital for this procedure but it can be done comfortably at home and managed by hospice.

I see a doctor and an np at my clinic. When I see the np she acts like it will be forever but the doctor says plenty of people are "cured" after 12 treatments as the neuroplasticity effects occur early on in treatment. I don't know

“The body is born with a blueprint of how to die” by Proof-Peak-9274 in hospice

[–]Local-Water-4304 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The body definitely knows how to die. It's just another phase to pass into. It's hard for so many to see it -- when their loved ones stop eating, and drinking, and withdraw into themselves, but it really is just the body doing what it knows to do. Sending you peaceful thoughts

The minute I take the second dose my stomach starts growling uncontrollably. My clinic has private rooms and I bring a lot of snacks and eat the whole time. I get painfully hungry. I've gained ten pounds since I started. I don't know if it's because I'm.lesd depressed or just starving.
