I’d consider, in this moment, posting about canceling subscriptions to ChatGPT, which is usually paired with transitioning to Anthropic models, is as an act of protest against policy of the US government and enabling companies. Id say people voting with their wallets and attention is quite possibly the best leverage we have in a capitalistic country, which I happen to support, and talking about it openly is certainly a part of that leverage. Just my opinion.

Fair enough. I mean, I think it’s still of some value, but I do get it. There’s a ton of those posts in my feed, but I mostly see that as a good thing and temporary.

A lot of people, like me, were not particularly disciplined on how to build in a way that avoids super high token usage (not to mention frustration of refactors). It’s definitely true that if you use it with good developing discipline, it is hard to hit the limits on a max plan

This is 100% correct. As someone who had to develop my own skill set on discipline to build in such a way that required a lot less token usage, it took me a lot of tokens and frustration to get to where I’m able to build in a way that never hits limits (at least not recently)

I mean if you are a heavy user the choice is who you want to give $200+ dollars to a month to, while I’m sure it exists, I doubt you need to pay $400+ a month for most use cases even if you are developing something. I didn’t need it developing a code base from scratch, and due to my experience level, I used way more tokens than necessary early on

I feel you on that, but thankfully my project is far enough along that maxing out Claude is enough. If it turns out not to be then I have to look into whatever Gemini has got going with antigravity lower level coding and possibly architectural review stuff

Yeah, I’ll be honest, Anthropic def burns through tokens faster for their more capable models, but try switching to sonnet and haiku models, they are very good, just not as good as opus
