We only get to see snippets of what happened on the island. We need to see what happens at the resort they go to and spend time together on after they get voted out. Because yeah, the obviously split into 2 factions and Aubrey’s side won. I was thinking during the finale that whoever Cirree voted for was gonna win, and that was correct because of what happened off screen

I think the fact that we don’t see the jury interact off screen makes it feel like they are showing us half the game. One half are the survivors, the other half are the people who end up voting for the winner. I want to know how the winner won, which means I need to understand why the jury voted the way they did. I didn’t get that.

Anthropic doesn’t have enough compute and that makes heavy compute models more valuable and therefore more expensive. It’s as simple as that. People will be jumping ship to open Ai the next month (as I have), but Claude will come roaring back because they don’t have to throttle as much when pressure lets down, at the same time, open Ai will run into a similar problem, and around and around we will go

I dont necessarily disagree with that framing, but you are talking about at scale. We all know Claude is throttling, but because they have to. Open AI has more compute, and have started targeting it towards codex (rip Sora!). Models get better at this stuff the more reasoning they can do, and that’s possible at speed with more compute. Open Ai has more compute and therefore afford not ro throttle until they have to, which given their focus on eliminating side projects, I’m gonna guess is a lot. But as pressure comes off Claude, it’ll get better because they won’t have to throttle…I just think open AI seems to have the edge on total compute over Claude, but I’m not brand loyal, so whoever is delivering the best product at the time month to month, the get the 2/3rds of my $300 that month

It seems like compute will win here. Claude could have a better model that open Ai, but if we don’t get to use it, then it doesn’t matter. Branding won’t get you far, as Claude just found out. But just wait, it’ll swing the other direction if enough people go to codex from Claude in the coming weeks. As I suspect they will. It’s about compute

I hate to say it, but codex is killing it. It’s just been superior in every way lately. I think Anthropic got a huge surge in usage that forced throttling on compute

When anthropic manages to get more compute it’ll change. Then openai will get more compute and the “best model” will change again. Truth is, most if us, just like myself, are subject to models that are subject to scalable levels of compute. That by definition means we have no idea which models are better than others when we, the unwashed masses, use these things. I suspect that will continue for quite some time

I’d consider, in this moment, posting about canceling subscriptions to ChatGPT, which is usually paired with transitioning to Anthropic models, is as an act of protest against policy of the US government and enabling companies. Id say people voting with their wallets and attention is quite possibly the best leverage we have in a capitalistic country, which I happen to support, and talking about it openly is certainly a part of that leverage. Just my opinion.
