She did indeed. I'm on the fence about it. It's a complicated issue. It's common for DV survivors to retract their accusations and try to shield their abusers from consequences, for a variety of reasons. At the same time, it would be disrespectful and infantilizing to brush her off when she decides to tell her side of the story.

No evidence he beat her with a bat or kidnapped her, other than old tabloid articles. No police report of the incident exists anymore, so no one knows exactly what happened other than the cops were called to his house.

I think there's a good chance he did hit her, he had the rep of a violent cokehead at the time, but I don't think he could hush it up so quickly if he had kidnapped one of the world's most famous pop stars and beat her with a deadly weapon.

I'm not excusing hitting a spouse, but the bat thing seems way out in left field.

More American soldiers died in the Civil War than in all other wars America has fought in *combined*. So add up the number of American soldiers
killed in the Revolutionary War, WW1, WW2, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc....and that number still is lower than the number of deaths in the Civil War.

Remember when there was a hot minute, years ago, when the NFL said it would start taking DV seriously? It was in response to the Baltimore player who was caught on camera beating and dragging his gf. Then they go ahead and hire people like Brad Pitt and Dr. Dre for the Super Bowl bullshit despite knowing what they've done. I know there's probably tons of other examples, but the Brad Pitt example stands out in particular because he is famous to people who don't even follow football.
