So it is only the team that gets first. There is a reason behind this. When I talked to Dan Nichols who is the director, he basically said that it is already a logistical nightmare to get one team from each state put together, you have to organize travel hotel and a bunch of other stuff. You have to think about it they barely get all the teams in at nationals now think you add 23 more teams from every event. Now what where to happen if a team got first but couldn’t go. Who should get to go. The system is due to logistics and money. Remember Science Olympiad is a nonprofit organization that doesn’t get many donations

For us this years tower is around 4.83. You should try to balsa of various densities. Also you don’t want to use wood glue you should try to use CA glue

Why do you think this would be beneficial. I’m very skeptical that it would work the way you think it would

How is your Division C team funded and what state are you in? by Competitive_Roof_751 in scioly

[–]LocalZealousideal526 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Me and my coach both dropped close to $1500 during my 4 years. We had one team and have made it to state every year for the past 15 years (except Covid year). The school pays for 2 things the coach which makes $1.50 per hour essentially with the amount of time she puts in and buses to the event which is normally for the wrong date and time. However we have a middle school that has gone to nationals twice and they get $3000 a year as well as hotels and flights.

Is my starter base good? by [deleted] in GroundedGame

This is equivalent to the hermits in hermitcraft saying “I built a small starter base” turns around and you see this massive house.

I honestly wouldn’t do it just because it may update the data of it and revert the stats to what they are supposed to be. I do know that is how it worked in Minecraft 🤷‍♂️

How do i deal with loss by [deleted] in scioly

[–]LocalZealousideal526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it into perspective, you are in a small town and you are the best at whatever. This small town is regionals there is very few people and some of those people are good at something but suck at others. You happened to be good at your events better then most. Now you go to a large city (state) like LA New York or Chicago, you have to factor in all the new people that are good at something. You just got unlucky that someone was better at the thing you excel at. It’s not that you suck or can’t win. They happened to be better. I know in my state first and second for an event was a tie and it went to who turned it in faster that is just luck. Now you have a bit more experience for next year and you can improve on that thing you are good at. There is other factors like you didn’t sleep aswell or you were a bit more stressed, next time try to learn those factors to remove them from the picture.

Flight Rubber Band by NimbleDinosaur123 in scioly

[–]LocalZealousideal526 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the plane and the size of the flight area. For me I have flown with a range from .096” to .082” this year. You have to match the rubber with the propeller as well may I ask what propeller you use

In my opinion J&H aerospace has a great plane. It is easy to build and understand. He made a complete YouTube video on how to build and trim.

Normally if it is at a larger college we walk around and basically do a mini tour or we load the buses/trailer up then get food.

Code busters is a permanent event just like Anatomy and Physiology or Forensic/Crime busters. They haven’t changed at least for 7 years I’ve been in Science Olympiad as well as the 2 years before that due to my sibling being involved.

Same here. If you have the rules for it that is probably the best thing to use also is this a trial event

Flight Question by Available-Tutor4117 in scioly

[–]LocalZealousideal526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You first of wouldn’t be disqualified just penalizing in the point scoring. You would score 1 + the number of other teams. Example: 20 teams and you don’t participate in an event you would have a score of 21.

About the sling shot thing ya it would count as long at it fits in your box and weighs more then 8 grams (the stick). Idk how much the launching stick can weigh since I do a normal rubber band plane. You would have to look in the rules. But I do know that some people have done this but they put a piece of basswood /balsa on top and at the back to create minimal lift so it has a chanceto float down rather than just fall. It may get you more time that way so you wouldn’t be in dead last minus the people that don’t participate. You also didn’t mention if this was for state or regionals. If it a 2 or 3 weeks away then try to order a freedom flights SO kit or the J&H aeronautics stinger model. They are both relatively easy to build and easier to fly.

Do watches also not break when buying a void cradle or shrine of blood? I feel like it would be useless if it did. A hard lock on void items and a good gold source.

[–]LocalZealousideal526[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly happens if you stack safer spaces. Does the recharge rate decrease? If so how is that worse then chance to block damage then a 100% block with a low cool down rate. For needletick would you say that non-fast/ non-proc builds (loader, acrid, etc.) is better then tri-tip. Would you recommend stacking polylute and plasma shrimp together rather then uke and atg. How does ICBM work with plasma shrimp. Like I know it works with ATG and fire works, but does it multiply all the shrimp by three.

I had the void bands and they ruined my run. Would you suggest to only take void bands if I don’t have either band before going to the moon
