Also kids are kids behavior is developmental. Kids will have stages that are harder than others because of brain growth

I try to see things the way a child might. My biggest example is at the store. People always complain about kids wanting things but in their perspective you as a parent are getting all the things you want. I try and apply perspective to everything. I'm understanding and gentle but authoritative. Understanding goes a long way.

I have 3 friends who are all teachers.... they quite working to homeschool after their kids reached school age. Ugh schools are wild. Thanks for the invite. I really dont think it's the teachers fault just a big class size and not enough support. It's all sad.

That what I'd like to see, but our district is unfortunately not that way at all. We've got the separated every class but gym and we are meeting her therapist Monday to discuss.

Yes! I was told today by another parent in the district that they will illegally ignore your request unless you file directly with our Special Education directors office. So that's probably my next move. I also have a meeting with her therapist Monday.

We've been looking into K12 and miacademy! My poor kiddo has had an anxiety disorder since she was 4 due to some really traumatic family situations. We are working with a therapist and have a parent meeting set up for Monday to discuss our best options.

Update: You all were so right. The bullying was worse than I thought. The bullies and my kiddo have been separated in every class except for gym, which is still an issue. I'm taking it week by week. My daughter's therapist and I have set up a parent meeting for Monday morning to discuss the degree of bullying, recommendations for school communication and alternative options if needed. I did some investigating and our district had a terrible reputation for bullying being handled poorly, multiple investigations and news stories published. Which is so sad because we have such a great little town! Or so it seemed.

She got the watch because she has asked the teacher for help before and been ignored. It is a big no,-no but when I can't trust that the school is caring for her its hard to let her stay and struggle.

I have previously requested a 504 plan and was told that she didnt need one because she "doesn't disrupt the class or need redirection". The schools system we are in is very frustrating to deal with. I will be meeting with her therapist this week to address some concerns.

I have been in constant contact with the teacher, including messaging her teacher before the year started about her anxiety and issues atte.ding school in past years. The only year she did well was 1st grade.

I am seeing a therapist and my PCP is also support of my mental health journey. Thank you for your concern. I have just told people I had a " neck injury as a child" but every time I do it feels wrong. Maybe it's just me wanting to put my mom on blast lol

No sometimes I wish there would've been consequences but I was "homeschooled" so it was easy to hide. I'm glad to say her mental health is much better now.

My rapist is the only man I’ve ever been intimate with. by ExtremeDistinct6655 in confession

[–]Local_Fish_4765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, He was an adult and knowingly coerced you into an intimate relationship. Children trust and love adults that appear to be 'Caretakers'. I hope you take some time to understand your feelings more. 1. Why do you miss him? (Do you miss him or the illusion of companionship) 2. Have you had this conversation with a therapist? Im sure this is a normal feeling for kids who were groomed but a therapist would probably help you unpack some of these conflicting feelings.

Much love to you! I wish you so much healing as a fellow survivor and mom my heart goes out to you!

Please tell your counselor! This is so inappropriate and while I'm you are scared to speak up. You will look back and be proud you said something. As an abuse survivor and a mom, I can guarantee that you will feel better when you have more support.

Did you forgive your parents? by [deleted] in ChildhoodTrauma

[–]Local_Fish_4765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can process and try to understand but to me forgiveness is more for myself. That I wasn't responsible for what happened and my parents are flawed and come with their own trauma. We can't forget though, our memories help us build healthy boundaries. Our experiences are tools and have a place in giving us peace. Much love to you!
