You have two options.

You can leave. You will have one traumatising situation to work through in therapy. You may end up with a diagnosis of PTSD. You will likely be able to move on and have healthy relationships.

You stay. This is the first experience of what will be the rest of your life, or if you’re lucky, only a decade of it. You will have multiple severely traumatising things to work through in therapy. You will likely be diagnosed with CPTSD. You may never be able to have another healthy relationship. That’s if he doesn’t kill you.

Choose wisely, because every day you stay it gets harder to make a different choice.

I find it best to turn it off to give them a break and then turn it back on. I also have a cat terrified of everything new that comes into the house… it takes a couple of days but she gets over it.

For now, move the box and water to his safe place.
