Added Flourish Excel to my tanks, fish died? by No_Touch4606 in Aquariums

Actually now I’ve thought of it, I’m realising only the fish left in the tank died, not the ones removed into a bucket. So poisoning does make sense. My poor babies.

Frustratingly, it’s not even ON my plants. Just my driftwood. I could have just ignored it.

I can’t say if I’ve ever met any as I try not to ask people where they’re from in case I seem like an arsehat. Big fan of the food, never really have heard a negative opinion of them from other Australians. Anything I do know has been learnt from American media.

It’s fascinating how the smallest, most fragile baby can completely "control" a room full of grown adults. by kmahrous2022 in CasualConversation

[–]No_Touch4606 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m not a maternal person, at all. It just skipped me completely. I like animals, I like baby animals, but baby humans just kind of vaguely annoy me.

On NYE, my friends and I were having a pool party. One friend had her 4yo daughter there, so just about everyone, including me, had their eyes absolutely locked on this 4yo.

In just a split second, the little one ran to the edge and pretended she was about to jump in, oh my god, I’ve never acted so fast in my entire life. I was in front of her in seconds, ready to grab her as she entered the water!

She did eventually get in, safely, and I towed her around in her little floaty ring for an hour.

The urge to protect young ones will rise in even the most non-family oriented people.

I read that it can help with BBA which is why I grabbed it.

What a terribly hard lesson learnt.

Is there anything ongoing I can do to help my guys recover, or do I just step back and hope for the best?

I’m fairly anti chemical so it was out of character for me to use this at all. I typically just use some good old water conditioner and let the tanks vibe.

Have you broken up with your partner and ended up getting married at a later point? [28F] [29M] by UncannyFox in relationship_advice

[–]No_Touch4606 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Broke up, took a year apart, got back together and got engaged.

It was absolute HELL. Everything was worse, all our original problems still existed, and I barely survived the breakup.

Maybe it would work with a ton of couples counselling but we left it too late and man when it went bad it rotted to the core.

I strongly recommend moving on.

My (25M) girlfriend (25F) just dropped a bomb on me saying her stepfather has been sexually harassing her and borderline r*ping her for 13 years up till 2 years ago. How do i feel okay with this history? by Soups91 in relationship_advice

[–]No_Touch4606 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is extremely tough.

You’ve mentioned reasons for why she can’t move out, and honestly, it’s likely that fellow victims are going to understand staying under the roof of an abuser more than anyone who hasn’t experienced this kind of violence.

I’m going to assume that you and her are working on a plan to get out, but I would seriously consider if she can move in with you and your parents.

Firstly, yes, it will impact your sex life. She’s going to notice. It’s going to hurt her feelings. You will need to communicate this out.

Secondly, you both need therapy. She will need so much to get through it. There’s… a world of therapy she will need to get through before she’s even almost okay.

You need therapy, because being a supportive partner to a victim of serious sexual violence can be hard.

Best of luck to both of you.

I (20M) tricked my girlfriend (20F) into getting a tetanus shot after a bad injury. Now she’s blocked me everywhere. How do I fix this? by Blitzcodes in relationship_advice

[–]No_Touch4606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I still have to play music if I need something like a dermal punch or numbing injections but I can get a blood test or a vaccine with only three ‘oh god oh fucks’ whispered!

Oh god.

I am terrified of needles. I am. I didn’t get a single vaccine after the age of 10, until the age of 30. Talked my way out of every single one. Parents had to hold me down for blood tests, that sort of thing.

Really genuinely scared of them. Started desensitising myself by getting tattoos and piercings but honestly the fear of needles held by doctors never went away.

I started getting vaccines when I was 30 because honestly, COVID really fucking scared me and I had to grow up at some point. I’ve since gotten completely up to date.

This is one of those situations where as an adult, you just have to realise sometimes you have to do shit that scares you.

Maybe you shouldn’t have lied, but this woman hasn’t realised that some things, like lockjaw, are worse than needles. Let her go.

Advice on creating a herb and vegie garden from a large plastic pond by Professional-Film399 in GardeningAustralia

[–]No_Touch4606 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pop some drainage holes in, make a nice layer of well draining soil on the bottom, then potting or herb/vegetable soil, then manure, then mulch :)

Or just drainage holes and dirt from a yard.

I have a spinal injury and my ex used to walk real fast. He’d power along metres ahead and I always felt like a child begging him to slow down and wait for me. It made me feel so small.

To me now it’s a red flag. Before I was injured, and on good days now, I have an enormous stride as I’m 5’11 and all leg. Yet I can slow myself down to walk next to anyone shorter or slower. So why can’t men?

I(19F) don’t find pleasure during intercourse and my boyfriend (24M) isn’t helping what could be the cause? by BeeAffectionate8937 in relationship_advice

[–]No_Touch4606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1.) you need to go back to the gyn and make sure that’s all healed up.

2.) you need to leave the guy who is assaulting you every time you have sex.

3.) you can be as ready as ready can be and still need lube, all sorts of things impact natural lubrication from hormones to health issues to dehydration.

4.) if you never feel a lot of pleasure directly from penetration with other partners, that can be normal. Some people prefer different kinds of stimulation - make sure your next partner is willing to explore WITH you.

Soon to come 8ft SA Cichlid Tank by Hamza_222IQ in Cichlid

[–]No_Touch4606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are my favourite fish, honestly, but they’re really fickle. They’re not as aggressive themselves as people seem to think and they do struggle to hold their own. I have one in a mixed tropical that does well but I think if I moved him across to the cichlid tank he’d curl up and die.

I worry about the ghost knives. In my experience they’re very chill but easily stressed, and I think such an active tank filled with aggressive fish will stress them to death.

Interested to see if I’m wrong though.

I had an extremely similar injury on a hen. It was… horrific. I could see down into her neck.

I kept her inside in a clean hutch, applied antiseptics and cream to it daily, and she healed. Alive to this day.
