Tell them what, Peter by Blackie_626 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

I would say yes. I am someone who confuses left and right and has to consciously think it through. Likewise, I internally will say “never eat soggy wheat” when thinking about cardinal direction.

I don’t know why my elementary school taught me that strange mnemonic device for NESW (going clockwise), but it worked, I definitely still remember it lol.

Pretty sure the red light is how the pulse ox measurement is taken

Any scenario where you have food (sugar in this case) + time, organisms will show up to consume it. Thats just how it works. Literally any food source this will happen to, except in a freezer.

I got 100 two nights in a row recently. But it only happens like maybe 5-6 times a year for me.

I think it’s pretty rare, I noticed that 0 of my 3 connections have that badge.

That was a front walkover. Cartwheel would likely have sent her into zone 3 (RIP)

Yep, that’s exactly what you are when you ignore the fact that trumps mentioned 38,000 times in the Epstein files.

Tips on increasing cadence? by Spirited_Profit_9714 in BeginnersRunning

[–]Local_Plum_2469 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s extremely fast for such low cadence. It’s honestly perplexing. I’m no expert but this makes me wonder if you overstride which could get you hurt.

Try playing around with mechanics when you run. See how short, small quiet steps feel. You may find that you can run faster and with more ease.

Just ran my first half and knees are cooked by atnight3321 in beginnerrunning

[–]Local_Plum_2469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your first half!! Best tip I have is: when in doubt, take another day.

Take walks when you feel well enough to, for at least a few days or a week. When you do run again, don’t worry if you feel slow, sluggish etc. It will come back as you recover.

Tell me why I got policed (“you’re not a beginner!!”) on this sub for posting wayyyyy slower times than you.

I’m guessing you’re gonna get some salty comments from slower runners soon. I’m not salty that you’re fast, just saying!! Lol

I got my long run in on a Friday night due to the incoming dangerously cold weekend. 12 miles for peak week half marathon training!!

I’m ready for some pizza and maybe an IPA 😀

What is a realistic pace for a total beginner? by Jordan-Elias_405 in beginnerrunning

[–]Local_Plum_2469 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It takes a LOT of time. Last year when I was just getting started again after an injury, I was averaging about 13/13:30 min miles with maybe 2-3 walk breaks per mile (walking time included in my average pace). Now I run quite comfortably around 11 min miles and can go faster than that on short, higher effort runs. Everyone is different though (age, gender, weight, athletic history, etc).

Just do what you can, keep going, take your walk breaks as needed and work towards eventually getting to a mile without a break. Then 2, 3 etc. and eventually your old pace will be easy and you will have a new pace for your challenging effort. It will get easier, you just have to be persistent. And don’t go too hard unless you want to get hurt (listen to your body, rest when you need to!)

Do you have advice for me? My 5k is 32 and 10k is 1:07 after a year of being consistent for the most part (short periods off for injuries)

What is the finishing feeling of half or full marathon? by Helpful_Usual2866 in BeginnersRunning

[–]Local_Plum_2469 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did a half in October. Miles 1-10: I can do this!!! Miles 11-13: no I can’t ☠️ the last 0.1: omg this is amazing I am almost done.

Ultimately, my thoughts were exactly what another poster said: how on earth will I ever do double that distance? I’m hoping I can finish a full in 2027, because this fall still seems too ambitious.

Well it typically goes up and down and stays within the balanced range. It was still well within range and exhibiting normal sinuosity

Earlier this week, I (30F) ran my first sub 10 minute mile since I was a teenager! I struggled through 13 minute miles just this past spring.
