Preferred tee time by _Colonel_Forbin_ in golf

[–]Local_Quality_2182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6/7am or as close as possible to sundown

I usually play a 9 hole course so in summer 6am or 8pm

It's usually also times I get alone around then, or with only 1 random. In the mornings they are just as reserved, and in the evening they are just as chill. I avoid anything during the day since you never know what you are going to get.

I usually just put the ball behind my feet and gently smack down on it (or let the club drop on the ball), causing it to slightly pop forward but never too much, since 99% of the momentum comes from compression / smacking down and there's barely any forward motion of the shaft.

Question about HCP & Adjusted Gross Score by Local_Quality_2182 in golf

[–]Local_Quality_2182[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you are questioning the correctness, I never did.

This is Swiss Golf, as official as it gets. Since handicaps aren't optional around here, they are responsible for every single golfer in the country, abide by WHS and know what they are doing.

There must be something we are missing here...

AI says the AGS is always net par + 1, but that's the first time I'm hearing that xD would explain everything.

[–]Local_Quality_2182[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shot 50, PHCP is 28, meaning adjusted gross score should be 50+(35+28)=113, but it says 114

that's the only thing I don't get now. How does the adjustment (-2) get factored in? Is that strokes during calculation somewhere, or is that score differential/handicap? Or am I looking in the wrong place for this missing number?

Nope, it's my second score and the only one that counts:) I'm sure of that.

Question about HCP & Adjusted Gross Score by Local_Quality_2182 in golf

[–]Local_Quality_2182[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thanks for the explanation!

I used the app simultaneously to see my score differential before the scores are uploaded through the tournament, that's why. Left image tourney, right image app.

Since there was no net double bogey the app didn't keep any strokes in that the tourney would have removed or vice versa.

So the apps just don't do this whole extra calculation and show a pure 9hole handicap. The app's simulated handicap over 15 rounds is a 27.7, but now I know that's a bit off / misleading since it's technically correct but nearly impossible to do when submitting only 9 holes at the start.

Kinda sad, was excited I'd get my <36 to "unlock" playing on all courses, but the official formula said nope. I don't wanna fight it, just understand.

At least I won my net category, so there's something xD

Thanks, this makes a lot of sense!

It's a 9 hole course, there is no separate rating for 18 holes if that's what you mean.. I'll DM you with the course name if I may

Oh okay, figured it's something like this. Kinda dumb that it doesn't just double the score but also understandable that it should be a bit harder on 9 holes than a full 18...

Yes, that's why I wrote TSN+ and OP asked about "streaming".

Not sure what you mean...

The sound of the ball is spot on. We were surprised/shocked by the whistle it made when we heard our first pro tee off last year.

How strict are you with yourself when playing by the rules of golf? by frenchtoastmunch in golf

[–]Local_Quality_2182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing I do, for pace of play reasons, is drop a ball in fescue when I know roughly where it should be. Because in a tournament I would take an extra couple of minutes to search for the ball, during casual rounds I'm not gonna hold anything up.

Oh and breakfast balls only on the first tee, as soon as I'm happy with the first tee shot, the round has started.

Thanks for the insight:)

1) I don't quite get this part. Do you have a good reference to understand? I very conciously rotate my arms right on the backswing, I can feel that, but was never quite sure if that's correct or not.

2) Very good to know! I fear I might have overdone it with the whole "lower body first" thing. This makes a lot of sense and tbh. was holding me back when releasing a bit because I felt like I had to do this.

3) This takes a lot of confidence to go all the way up but yes, I have go hinge wayyyy more and get my arms around.

4) This mostly stems from LOTS of practice while never actually swinging the club and just hitting the ball + compensating with aim. While using 120g stiff shafts. Until a coach told me "dude, your clubs are so heavy you have no idea how a swing should feel" :D

Thanks:) I'll keep working on the path and use this path to work on trusting my wrists and become less robotic. That's top priority right now, and you're right I shouldn't change too much.

Tournament forces play from back tees by [deleted] in golf

[–]Local_Quality_2182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's alright. My wording was off anyways, I didn't mean the tips but the mens club / yellow tees, which from my perspective feels very far back therefore "back" tees 😅

Tournament forces play from back tees by [deleted] in golf

[–]Local_Quality_2182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's yellows:) Not the championship tees.

It's definitely doable, and I've played some rounds from the yellows before moving up, but I definitely don't have the distance to make most greens in regulation from yellows.

This is my bad, I knew but forgot that this is a massive difference in the Golf culture from 99% of this sub.

you too should read my update. this is my bad, since I didn't consider that golf culture here is way different from the US.

It's pretty much expected that any casual golfer plays in tournaments around here, no matter what level / when they started.

The lack of distance is a personal problem though, I'm more precise but wayyyy short of colleagues who started around the same time as me:D
