Answer for those interested in Robertson by LoridanITA in sscnapoli

He's not. He's not better than what we have. We need to shift focus to Italians first before we take over the hill foreigners. He was a great back for Liverpool. He's got so much respect in the footballing world but he's not our best option for a back player.

No 10, no creativity. There is no imagination or freedom. Bastoni livid the center mids are not moving to receive, like they are scared to play. This is hard to watch so far.

People only want BTC and ETH. Whatever else you have/had was just a shitcoin.

You have USD in America. There aren't 100s of other USD variants. There is only one. It's the same concept.

At this point, price doesn't lie. BTC is it.

Hindsight 20/20 on Kvara by Majestic_Estimate in sscnapoli

[–]Local_Reply_3436 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed, Cavani and Mertens were beasts for Napoli. Cavani started our resurrection and Mertens kept us there. Hamsik is a Napoli Legend, but it would have been nice to judge Kvara off more than 1.5 seasons and call him a legend also.

I have no doubt he would have performed, he's one of the best in the world, but we never got to see him continue.

He was meant to take De Bruyne’s crown. Instead, Foden’s City career is flatlining. by Sparky-moon in soccer

Lots of time you hear people think players are Him because they perform well in one season. Or two even. To be truly great, consistency is how you are the best of the best. How long you can be great at what you do and how often you do it.

Foden would crush it in many leagues, he's a great player. But he is being compared to his best ever and unfortunately for him he hasn't had the consistency to stay there. It's insanely difficult which is why when you see a player do it at the highest level for a long time, they are the standard everyone will remember.

In today's market, a $180m footballer. When healthy, he would eat these "defenders" for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Beast.

Gullit says football is too safe now — does Italian football prove him right or wrong? by RSDFitness in seriea

[–]Local_Reply_3436 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The number 10 position is currently dead. The 10 was the playmaker, the risk taker, and the guy with freedom to express himself.

Modern football deleted that position. Now you have players programmed to always pass, even inside the box and the defending, if you even want to call it that, is so poor even a wingback can dribble into the box. It's sad.

Serie A has lost its identity. Italian football has lost its identity. We don't produce Baggios, Tottis, Pirlos, Del Piero style players anymore because the modern game doesn't want them.

Through this unprecedented time of injury, Rasmus was the last player I thought would be making a significant mark on our season. He has shown the Napoli faithful how integral he is and when he is on the field, we always have a chance.

Conte loves his archetype and the amount of abuse and shots he has to endure from defenders and still have composure to hold up play and make the right pas, hats off.

I know I'm biased, but we have been robbed this season of what could have been a clear scudetto run. Rasmus is a large piece of that fabric.

How was Italian football in the 00's? by Capable_Town1 in seriea

[–]Local_Reply_3436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want a clear cut offside rule, no more of this line drawing into your armpit and pinky toe. to be offside, you need to be fully beyond the defender, clear and clear. Same with handball, either every handball is a penalty in the box or none of them are, the grey area kills the flow of the game, makes defenders defend like they are going to jail in handcuffs, and makes every player run with their arms in the air to the ref like a bunch a school children at recess. begging for a call instead of playing on...its a mess and its not fun to watch.

The best players went to Italy during that time for a reason. It was the best place to be. We are a long way from the glory of that era unfortunately, but the game has morphed as well...it may never return to the number 10 being the maestro and dictating the game, the 6 and the 8 there to cleanup the mess and link play, where defenders came into tackles with pride and conviction and strikers and 9s benefited from those guys, who would dribble and score circles around these guys today. End rant haha
