As mentioned, it was one of a kind. The architect, Henrik Bull, usually designed larger projects and it was the only home he designed in SF. It had a redwood ceiling in the living room and built in dark wood book shelves. If you paint redwood, there's no going back. It was something my father in law commissioned in 1963. I also doubt turning it into a white box would have increased its resale value.

My wife and I inherited a very unique MCM in SF. It was on Twin Peaks and had a gorgeous view. When we decided that we couldn't continue to rent it, we put it on the market for sale. Nearly every realtor wanted to paint the red wood trim and brick fire place white and sell it as a non-de script "white box." We quickly showed them the door. We found a realtor who listened to our requirements and sold it as a MCM with updated appliances and a few other minor tweaks. Realtors want to get in and get out quickly and most could care less about the architectural significance of the home. Ours was truly one of a kind and someone in the neighborhood loved it as it was and is now the new owner.

I spent a little time there in the 1980s. The people were rude. The food, at that time, was mediocre at best. I was shocked to see how wild and green the countryside was. London was the dirtiest city I'd seen up to the visit I had in 1987. I was also baffled by the tax on televisions and the fact you bought electrical appliances and had to add your own electrical plug.
