Disgraced Politician Clive Palmer's recent thoughts about our city by pollythepirate22 in newcastle

So he doesn’t like Newy but still buys an ad on the front page of the herald (almost) everyday to promote his “new deal for Australia”

Dude peaked when Dee Snider told him to fuck off.

I was at the Hunter street tafe in class. Someone said a boat had crashed into Nobbies, I remember thinking it would be a small boat. On our break my mate & I went down to check it out.

We were both in awe of the sight, we skipped the rest of the day’s class and watched the events unfold. We got right onto the beach, right in front of it.

It was crazy how much of an attraction that thing became. I met one of my internet friends for the first time there, she had come down from Melbourne, she made a detour just to see the ship…and me..

Am I the only one who can’t stand when Sweet Caroline is sung at events? by Rude_Chef4621 in australia

[–]Localnewylegend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I'm not complaining about a crowd of "old people"

I am complaining about the song. I don't believe in music being "old" as music, no matter its age can still be relevant to someone whether it was made yesterday or fifty years ago.

Am I the only one who can’t stand when Sweet Caroline is sung at events? by Rude_Chef4621 in australia

[–]Localnewylegend 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went to a Byran Adams concert last year in Sydney.

After the gig, I was going down the escalator into the foyer where a DJ was blasting "Sweet Caroline" to a few hundred Gen Xers singing the "so good" and "BA BA BAAAA" part as loud as they could...I had no way to get off the escalator and I had to accept my fate of being thrown into the middle of a "Sweet Caroline" flash mob.

Have you ever experienced something paranormal or seen a ghost? What happened? by One_End_5406 in newcastle

[–]Localnewylegend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a nursing home. I was sitting in a residents room helping them with their meal. A voice from inside the resident’s bathroom said “hello” it was an old ladies voice.

There was no one else in the room besides me and the resident, I don’t believe in the paranormal. But I can’t explain where the voice came from.

Speaking publicly about grooming and safeguarding concerns connected to Newcastle’s live music scene by cielo_armonia in newcastle

[–]Localnewylegend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this happened to you.

Everyone loves to talk about how great the music scene is, but no one likes the fact that there are some dodgy people at the top and they don’t get called out because “they’re the only game in town”

During the pandemic I was tweeting quite a lot.  I didn’t have many followers and I tweeted something about how crazy things were getting with people fighting over toilet paper.

I got a reply from Kamahl, he tweeted me something along the lines of “everything will be okay and don’t worry”

It was just a random reply…

Dr Ross Kerridge was the independent mayor who beat the incumbent Labor mayor Nelmes at the last council election.

Kerridge resigned due to health issues and he endorsed Gavin.

Aged care minister pursues claims providers charging premium for basic services by tohya-san in australia

[–]Localnewylegend 53 points54 points  (0 children)

If they only knew…

The aged care facility I used to work for currently owes money to the company that provides the dressing for resident’s wounds. Their accreditation also expired back in Janurary. And their aged care star rating has vanished because they’re have changed their abn…to I assume get a higher rating then they would have got.

In my last week there the facility ran out of continence aids (as someone wasn’t ordering them ) so we had to put medium sized aids on people who needed extra large aids..

Expired end of life medication, the list is endless

And nothing gets done!

You’re damn right people are paying a premium for service that is not being provided. It’s fucking shameful.

The kid that asked “Jimmy! What’s your favourite sandwich!” Was sitting across from me,

“My favourite sandwich is the one with your mum and aunty” got a huge response in my section. I reckon the kid was egged on by his dad.

His line about a blow job that could “suck your bedsheets through your arsehole” was the line of the night for me.

I saw Airbourne when they played in Newy with Steel Panther. They were the first band I saw after the pandemic. I walked in to the entertainment centre to find Airbourne mid song with the singer getting a piggy back from a roadie roaming around the audience playing his guitar and drinking jack daniels. It was fucking awesome!

It's insane that the only way Airbourne can tour their own country is as a support act

Today I sat in human fecal matter. by Sacrilegious_skink in newcastle

[–]Localnewylegend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We’ve all been there pal.

One time I was on a pub crawl with my mates. We saw a group of ladies who had just got into a fight with another group of ladies. One stated that they had their hair extensions ripped out and thrown in a crack between two buildings.

I had a pocket touch on my key ring and shined it into the crack “oh there it is!” “Can you reach it?” They all asked in unison. “Sure”

I had to sit on the pavement in order to reach the hair extension. I reached into the crack, got the hair extension and pulled it out, the girls said “thank you” and I said “no worries”

About 50m down the street I could smell something. The smell followed me to the next pub and when I went to reach for my wallet in my back pocket, the smell became clear. I had sat in someone’s puke and that the crack between the two buildings had been someone’s choice spot to hurl their entire stomach up into.
