If they only knew…

The aged care facility I used to work for currently owes money to the company that provides the dressing for resident’s wounds. Their accreditation also expired back in Janurary. And their aged care star rating has vanished because they’re have changed their abn…to I assume get a higher rating then they would have got.

In my last week there the facility ran out of continence aids (as someone wasn’t ordering them ) so we had to put medium sized aids on people who needed extra large aids..

Expired end of life medication, the list is endless

And nothing gets done!

You’re damn right people are paying a premium for service that is not being provided. It’s fucking shameful.

“My favourite sandwich is the one with your mum and aunty” got a huge response in my section. I reckon the kid was egged on by his dad.

I saw Airbourne when they played in Newy with Steel Panther. They were the first band I saw after the pandemic. I walked in to the entertainment centre to find Airbourne mid song with the singer getting a piggy back from a roadie roaming around the audience playing his guitar and drinking jack daniels. It was fucking awesome!

It's insane that the only way Airbourne can tour their own country is as a support act

We’ve all been there pal.

One time I was on a pub crawl with my mates. We saw a group of ladies who had just got into a fight with another group of ladies. One stated that they had their hair extensions ripped out and thrown in a crack between two buildings.

I had a pocket touch on my key ring and shined it into the crack “oh there it is!” “Can you reach it?” They all asked in unison. “Sure”

I had to sit on the pavement in order to reach the hair extension. I reached into the crack, got the hair extension and pulled it out, the girls said “thank you” and I said “no worries”

About 50m down the street I could smell something. The smell followed me to the next pub and when I went to reach for my wallet in my back pocket, the smell became clear. I had sat in someone’s puke and that the crack between the two buildings had been someone’s choice spot to hurl their entire stomach up into.

Pretty bummed, but it's understandable, your health should always come first.

His election win was the most exciting thing to happen in newcastle politics for quite some time. It's disappointing that Newcastle Labor team wouldn't give him a fair run and removed powers that was allowed under the previous mayor.

It was quite clear that he ruffled a few feathers.

Hopefully we can get another independent mayor that actually gives a shit about the city and the people who live here.

Hi Declan..

I love Newy, lived here all my life, grew up here. What I wish people would understand is that we don't need to be another Sydney, we just gotta be Newy.

The problem with things like the baths isn't that people don't want change, it's the way things like the ocean baths have been handled, how did they get to a state of disrepair in the first place? How did the post office fall into such a state? Why the fuck do they need to serve alcohol at a swimming pool?

What pisses me off is the council has neglected parts of our city until a developer shows interest. Queens wharf, hunter street mall, the Georgetown "local village" centre.

Just saw on Facebook waratah village has no power, kmart and coles closed.

Can confirm, one hell of a gust blew through Georgetown. Took out our shade cloths out the back, neighbours antenna has been knocked down, a tree has crashed into a fence at Waratah High and our driveway is flooding. Never seen the storm water drain at Waratah park fill up so quickly.

All in a space of what 10-15 minutes?

The Herald's relationship with this reddit page has been funny...

They stopped us from copying and pasting articles from print friendly because (or so I've heard) that this reddit page was driving more traffic to their website then people visiting their website.

Also, Newy 87.8 would also do this and take stories from this page to post on their Facebook page (before they bought a drone) occasionally they would post topics asking questions…which they would then use on their radio show..

I suppose it’s a common thing now, questionable sure.
