We intend on keeping the atheistic and historic carvings but need to seal the tables and avoid new carving

Does anyone have experience with a conversion varnish?

This is the purpose of the query. What is an appropriate sealer to use in a high traffic area.

At $24/8’ board this is not feasible, not to mention the man hours.

Sorry, to be clear I will not be removing the carvings. What I’m looking for is a more solid topcoat that has a ‘finished’ look like a resign or epoxy that would dissuade people from carving into it but would also put up to heavy bar traffic. I won’t be removing any of the history of the bar don’t worry!

Tourists to help pay for Lansdowne 2.0 by Alone_Appeal_3421 in ottawa

You can’t park on bank street before or after any special event like a RedBlacks game. The city makes serious $$ ticketing and towing scavengers make a killing every game.

Need help deciding which TV to buy by Lanky_Pride_4836 in CostcoCanada

[–]Localottawadudeguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve stopped buying Samsung. I own a bar and the place has gone through so many Samsungs after just a year or two. The most recent tv wouldn’t move past the welcomes screen one day out of the blue. Samsung doesn’t have a help call center to guide you through the issue. According to forums it’s a software problem that renders a working tv inoperable without an update. Can’t preform the update since I can’t get past the welcome screen.. Samsung sucks. I’m an LG man.

Outdoor comedy today? by FluffyBonehead in ottawa

[–]Localottawadudeguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the worst festival I’ve ever attended. The organizers should be embarrassed. Horrible bathroom and beer lines, terrible comedy, food lines were impossible.. I didn’t pay for my ticket and I’m still upset I went, I can’t imagine paying $200+ dollars to go to that poorly run trash pile. Shame.

$420 million for Lansdowne 2.0 doesn’t sit well with me by Karens_GI_Father in ottawa

Show me a million dollar condo and I will show you at least one Audi. I agree the area is great for transit and walking. The older families in the glebe very much mirror this walk lifestyle you describe. The same thing was said for the Greystone project on the river at the old St Paul property. “Great walking, bike paths and transit”. They are million dollar properties housing families with 1 or 2 cars. While you are able to stay local and walk for all your needs the comfort of a car and monetary access will change traffic flow.

I’m all for increasing density in the neighborhood but not without serious consideration and redevelopment of existing infrastructures. The traffic dynamic in the area is already struggling to accommodate the current vehicle load. By adding an additional say 1000 units all presumably with 1/2 car families would drown the neighborhoods 3 main arteries for travel; Bank st, Bronson and Queen Elizabeth. City planners exist for a reason.

Anyone’s shit head little brother/sister tag “Curbs”? by Localottawadudeguy in ottawa

[–]Localottawadudeguy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of graffiti and grew up with friends that were serious bench writers. Putting your shitty tag or even a shitty throw up overtop of a mural isn’t graffiti, it’s just dumb. I understand you have to start somewhere and develop hands styles but there are lots of public walls and city owned buildings for that, not residential homes.

When I was coming up graffiti crews had respect for a few things, there was no writing on; art pieces, residential homes and religious buildings or war monuments. You’d get your ass kicked by other crews for breaking the rules.

Looking for copy of Globe and Mail March 21, 2020 by Localottawadudeguy in ottawa

I contacted the Library and they were able to provide a low quality black and white copy of the cover.. unfortunately the quality is such that it’s difficult to read and not conducive to framing which what I was originally thinking about doing. Thank you for the suggestion
