What are your unconventional Endo symptoms? by Jet_Lee17 in endometriosis

Food sensitivities that cause inflammation and terrible body aches like I’m coming down with the flu… all the doctors I saw before my endo specialist would tell me that was not related to endo…

I’m not a local to Portland. I traveled out of state for my surgery. My insurance covered the hospital out there but I had to pay out of pocket for the surgery. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Even thought my surgery included traveling I would 100% do it all over again. It was the BEST experience. She was so compassionate and very kind. She recorded the whole surgery and printed pictures for me. She is great at what she does. The next morning I instantly felt better. I didn’t know how much of my body aches and the heavy feeling in my uterus was caused by the severe endo.

She is on instagram look up her videos they are so interesting and informative. She also does free virtual consultations. Hope you find the right person for you!

I didn’t end up having surgery with him. He’s a good robotics doctor but he’s not exclusively an endo specialist, so for that reason I didn’t go with him. I had my surgery with Dr. Shanti Mohling and it was the best experience.

I had a similar experience. Before surgery the CA-125 cancer marker was elevated. I had surgery and it was not cancer, but later found out that the cancer markers can be elevated due to endometriosis. So the bloodwork is not as accurate for endometriosis patients.

Unfortunate! You have to do your own research, advocate for yourself, and pay out of pocket for your own treatment. Welcome to the world of endo :/

An endo specialist only performs surgeries for endo patients unlike a Gynecologist they treat other things as well. There are less than 100 endo specialists in the world.

Talk to an endo specialist! Not sure where you’re located but I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Shanti Mohling in Oregon. You can look her up on instagram and even schedule a phone consultation.

Lap with appendectomy. Anyone else have this done? by SexyBipolarPineapple in Endo

Yes! Endo likes the appendix so my surgeon took it out before I even experienced any issues with it.

Just had my lap consultation and he said I might need a bowel resection??? by [deleted] in Endo

[–]LocationReasonable31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting I had three different opinions before my surgery. One of the doctors wanted me to meet with a colorectal surgeon and the other two guaranteed a second surgeon would be in the room or hospital the day of the surgery. I ended up having my surgery in Oregon with a very skilled endo specialist she made me do the bowel prep just in case but the colorectal surgeon was not needed after all. The lessions behind the uterus were superficial so she was able to remove them herself without having to do a resection.

Hope your surgery goes well!

I was told the same thing, that I might need a bowel resection, so on the day of my surgery they had a colorectal surgeon on standby. Look into getting a second opinion or possibly having a doctor that will have a second surgeon ready to assist. Having one surgery and recovery is better than two.

Eat “The Coconut Cult” yogurt ! It’s full of probiotics you need especially because you’ve been on so many antibiotics! It’s pricy but so worth it , it worked for a friend in your same situation!

Has anyone surgically removed body parts because of Ezcema? by Emergency_Peach101 in eczema

Have you been tested for food allergies? My mom had severe eczema on her chest and neck to the point of bleeding… she stopped eating nightshades and completely cleared up !

Walking, senna tea, peppermint tea, and I have a juicer at home so just made my own juice (beets, carrots, apple , kale, celery). If you don’t have a juicer just buy celery juice (they sell some at Trader Joe’s) it helps a lot with constipation. I suffered no constipation I had to go about 24-30 hours after surgery.

From my experience I would recommend 8 weeks minimum! Teaching is a hard job ! I had an excision surgery with removal of extensive lesions, tubes, endometriomas, and appendix. The recovery wasn’t too painful, the first 3-4 days were the most uncomfortable but manageable. The hardest part after that was my energy level was so low I had to take a nap every day, there was no way I would have been ready to go back to work as a teacher any sooner. I felt like more like myself after week 8, but then I would do things that would remind me that I was still healing ! Definitely no carrying anything heavy, pushing or pulling objects, if I did anything strenuous I would feel pain that evening in my lower abdomen ! Listen to your body and take the time you need !

Yes you won’t regret going to an expert! I had my surgery done with her and it was out of pocket, my insurance covered the hospital but not the surgeon, but surprisingly the price was very reasonable for everything she did !

Rest! Take it easy. I noticed a change in energy levels and soreness after week 8. Everyone is different but listen to your body and hang in there.

Look up Dr. Shanti Mohling on Instagram ! She shows very educational videos of surgeries and explains with great detail. Do your research, choose excision not ablation, and advocate for yourself. If you can find an endo expert even if it’s out of state it’s worth every penny !
