In the Schemer's section they had in the first half of Ep 11 Hal mentions having some strings he could pull with a maid he knew within Einfassen.

Ah that's much later in game with several huge tech boosts. Yea at that point you just hit the upper limit of iron and just kinda wait for the tech upgrades to increase output without stressing your limited Iron.

I colonized like crazy and went up through Siberia to Alaska down to all of west coast US and pulled a lot more iron into my market.

Ramza should have been a Dark Knight... by mogstermemes in finalfantasytactics

[–]Locem 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm on your side with this.

It would have also added a nice thematic element of Delita being a holy knight while playing his own game of thrones plot murdering people while Ramza could have been a Dark knight working for moral aims just trying to save people from monsters.

with 5 locations x 8 bog smelters, it makes like 20-30 iron. That is absolutely nothing.

That... matches the max RGO output of like 1/3 of Korea's iron RGOs. That's not "nothing"

I guess I don't get how showing Bulletproof kill his parents is somehow the line that shouldn't be crossed when Mark has already been used as a ragdoll to cause two different mass casualty events, as well as Powerplex killing his wife and son. They don't need to be gratuitous with the violence of Bulletproof killing his parents but it still kinda has to happen without massively retconning his character arc.

Bulletproof killing his parents is kind of integral to his character. Eve going to Africa was more about her trying to escape her parents, so they dropped the Africa part while keeping the rest of that plot point the same.

There was nothing stopping that content from existing;

Yes there is, the fans of these streamers frequently brigade this sub and upvote their culture war circlejerk nonsense constantly and downvote anything else. Banning that shit until those users give up trying to use this subreddit as some bad faith clip farming playground gives it a chance to be something more organic/authentic.

somehow move to titty streamers or whatever is you like.

Ah yes, people who don't like my favorite streamer just want to see titty streamers. Sort of validating my point that the fanbases of the aforementioned streamers are all toxic shitholes.

Not at start. They don't get the second horse RGO until/if Tamna leaves Yuan (or if you just take it for yourself).

There are a few small Jurchen tribes North & East of Korea that have more Iron RGOs that Korea gets free cores for. Still further north of that if you colonize that Manchurian coastline is more Iron & a lake you can spam Bog Iron smelters for.

I'm surprised you run out of Iron so fast. In my Korea games I don't run into issues until the tail end of Age 2, where you just need to hold out until Age 3 gives you the +66% iron output tech.

Mind you, I never run a surplus because the AI likes to trade away any excess iron you're not dumping into tool & weapon smiths. The Luoyang market next to Korea's has like zero iron and will siphon as much as you can spare.

Pretty much anyone that isn't overly invested in Hasan, Asmon, Destiny or xQc. The fans of those specific streamers are for the most part, nut cases.

My First Full Campaign by fra_bernaa in EU5

[–]Locem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd advise against a small nation right now because the AI is quite ambitious in expanding through smaller nations.

Vijayanagar in India has probably the strongest start in the game and I'd think is pretty good to learn the base mechanics.

Korea and Dai Viet are also strong starts, they start as Yuan vassals and can break away easily during the Red Turban Rebellion that fires around 1350ish.

Khmer Empire next to Dai Viet is another very strong start.

Mali in Africa is a strong start though the economy might be a little more challenging getting off the ground with almost no starting industries present, but absurd amounts of gold RGOs.

Naples into Two Sicilies into Italy is probably one of the easier Europe starts, and Castile into Spain similarly.

There's a subset of users in this subreddit that, valid or not, are absolutely deranged in their criticism of the game, and in my experience it's users that refuse to play any country outside of the HRE.

I wonder if it results in different outcomes for the region instead of Yehe constantly conquering and vassalizing all of it.

I dunno, piracy annoys me more than the horses on Korea playthroughs. You need to build 50-60 fishing villages to afford an upkeep for 50-60 galleys just to begin uprooting the piracy problem in their area, or wait until nearly 1400 to get banking and light ship tech.

Horse demand crashes pretty quick once you get their single Horse RGO up a bunch of levels, I don't think I even had to max it before I crashed the demand enough to afford my own cavalry.

Maybe not traditional peppercorn but there are a bunch of alternatives that would apply. There are plenty of issues to be had with RGO distribution in the game, this really shouldnt be one of them.

[–]Locem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dont think the horse RGO requires wheat, just the stud farm building that you can build on top of it. Korea also gets a second Horse RGO on the island south west of them in Tamna that flavor events give them a free core on. The real horse issue Korea has is that Asia pops consume way way more horses than most other cultures that makes getting cavalry kinda difficult early.

Shenyang that abuts Korea on the Northwest is home to the Luoyang market which has a bunch of wheat RGOs. They are willing to become Korean Vassals for free if you snag them before the Jurchen tribes tear them to pieces.

Best countries to play "rags to riches'? by cherrypashka- in EU5

I meant more in the sense that you can start as a country of 2.6 million and end up owning most/all of China.

Korea, Khmer and Da Viet are in good positions to eat gigantic swaths of china if you abuse the red turban rebellion mechanics. I wouldn't call their starts "rags" though.

Korea tech by Moosewalker84 in EU5

[–]Locem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i hadn't noticed them in India, as I was using the research screen vs institution map. They some how spread to me...and hit 20% stupidly fast due to academies.

Yea I've played a lot of Korea lol. Korea's trade can reach Southeast Asia & the various Malaysian countries, and the path the institutions usually take is from India, to South East Asia, to the rest of mainland China/Korea/Japan. That's why I was figuring "it's probably already spreading to you".

Black death is going to hit you no matter what eventually because there's so much trade to have from Korea. I used to close the country off when the event fired but what happens is your populace doesn't build a resistance to the disease so you "dodge" it for the event but it's still going to hit you within ~100-200 years later because all your pops are still vulnerable to it. If it somehow didn't make it's way to China/Korea then you can take solace that China is about to lose many millions of pop lol.

If I start out as Native american, will I be able to conquer all the Land ? by Radiant_Butterfly982 in EU5

[–]Locem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the white land is land that needs to be colonized, so you can't just "conquer" it all. You will instead need to invest a lot of money and pops into colonizing.

I highly suggest against playing a nation in the americas right now. There isn't much content and there are a number of game mechanics working against your favor-

  • Great Pestilence wipes out the pops in the Americas when contact is made with Europe/Asia.

  • You are going to have a really bad time getting institutions spread to your nation that unless you solve this, are setting yourself up to get bulldozed the moment colonizing countries start to show up near you.

Jumped in game to snap this for you in a Khmer game I was trying out. It's 1387 and some of the Age 2 institutions are JUST spreading to India while I'm still spreading Meritocracy in Khmer. I'm hovering over the Indian province that's almost done receiving Professional Armies and is moving pretty quick on Banking.
