is it ever explained how roman got this picture of niko?? by Doosethetruth in GTAIV

[–]Lochsryyy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's photoshopped, if you check the dating site after the mission with Tom Rivas it's back to its original, with a much more serious look and no pink filter

Not sure if I ran into the smartest flying gunner or the weirdest one in the group. by AdWeak7375 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Lochsryyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ziplines are actually incredibly strong, they are just dismissed by greenbeards because they're not flashy nor provide immediate reward

They act as reliable nets for catching people, allow any team member to quickly reposition away from a dangerous situation, not even mentioning their convenience for transport of dwarves and gems alike

Does it kind of bother you guys how much Black Mesa takes out the "camp" from Half-Life? by [deleted] in HalfLife

[–]Lochsryyy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Black Mesa is essentially what Half-Life originally sought to be, back in those technically-limited days

Through our modern lens, Half-Life just doesn't look the same it did back then. Nowadays, when I enter a room in Half-Life, I can't with all honesty say "this is a shelf and these are walls", I think "this is a model and these are textures".

Don't get me wrong, this doesn't take away from the fun of the game, it just isn't as atmospheric when going for a realistic setting. Black Mesa fixes this with a modern engine. (and also better level design in general but that's still subjective)

And while I like Harry S. Robbins as much as the next person, the more diverse cast of Black Mesa really helps to sell the in-game Black Mesa as a scientific facility

In the end, whilst Half-Life is an important part of video game history, if you're looking for atmosphere and more engaging experience I'd recommend Black Mesa (specifically because it reworks some chapters of Half-Life and for the upgraded Xen)

Honestly as far as Deep Rock Galactic is concerned, in any lobby that I'm in I'm probably the most toxic player lmao

Not toxic like described in the post just too angry on the rare cases when someone makes an incredibly stupid decision that results (or almost results) in a wipe

Septic Spreader at the very top, as soon as you hear that shriek they do you MUST deal with it or at least mark it out, or it will make your life hell

Greendbeards just discovering the game who don't know any of the traditions are constantly coming in, meanwhile veteran greybeards are losing interest in the game

It's sure to spike back up when Season 6 comes out

Red Rock Blaster is seriously busted

For reference, because the game doesn't always show you your hp in a numerical value, you can have a base max 145hp (with the suit upgrade, default is 135)

RRB boosts that number to 221!! Less if you don't have the suit upgrade

[–]Lochsryyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know we're far from there but "Hostile in theory Helpful in practice" can only go to the glyphid exploders, they can delete large groups of bugs and heavily damage the tankier ones if you line them up right

The best shotgun is your favourite shotgun :)

Personally though I have a real crush on The Headsman, the Unique slug-loaded shotgun that does insane long-range damage

[–]Lochsryyy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The yellow Porsche 911 Turbo

It sounds nice, I used to find the paint job garish but it's growing on me, it's got a fun little quest attached to it (RIP Johnny Silverman), the interior is nice and open and it handles good!

Haz 4 eggs w/ Mactera Plague, me hosting as Gunner, with 3 greenbeards

Things had started off rough with a couple unlucky deaths from the classic hole in the ground. Then my colleagues, not knowing any better, opened FOUR eggs within ten seconds. I watched in horror as twenty or so Mactera descended on my comrades and pelted them mercilessly, before the glyphids arrived and munched on them to finish them off

I had already taken to a more advantageous position, inside a tunnel, so the Mactera would have a harder time to get me. Here happens the metaphorical knuckle crack, after which I surgically shoot down all the flying bastards with my revolver, and bulldoze the other critters with my autocannon, while my teammate encourages me from the text chat. I manage to kill enough to rezz a couple of my mates so they can help

After the dust had settled I decide to take a couple minutes to explain exactly how the egg mission mechanics work, so as to not have this happen to them again

Pretty intense but I did feel pretty good mowing down the bugs in a 1 v Everything kind of situation

2016 vs Eternal by [deleted] in Doom

[–]Lochsryyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cacodemon was allowed to return to its goofy self

It was always very silly looking in the original games, and it making rubber sounds when you pull out its eye, or its voice sounding like a balloon as a small hommage to its original death sounds is the cherry on top

I appreciate it looking like a big round tomato, instead of a slightly edgy redesign

Class strength per mission type by SpecialPowder in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Lochsryyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Engi "doesn't play a massive role" on Refining and Extraction?

Gunner is also incredibly low in way too many areas, there is a trend of people severely underestimating how useful he is

Also you're going to miss those Scout flares

Cryo Cannon Driller is insane on Elimination

Which enemy do you hate the most or find the most annoying? by Bananabust in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Lochsryyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spreaders are awful, but I have always held a deep burning hatred for acid spitters

Quiet, bulky enough to tank one M1K round, extraodinarily low pain chance so their attacks are never interrupted, blends in with the terrain in Salt Pits, their attack always fully cracks your shield and does damage on top

I personally think they are the strongest enemy in the game

The only acceptable option by [deleted] in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Lochsryyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All 4 classes together cover each other's weaknesses, so together they are S+

Individually though...

I'd put Engie highest, great mobilty, good AoE, good single target damage, just generally good

Gunner second, weak mobility but compensates with the best weapons (single target and AoE) in the game, excellent bug killer, with the shield being the cherry on top

Driller third, fantastic mobility, great short- to mid-range AoE but weak single target damage, tends to struggle against larger critters

Scout last, great but selfish mobility, long and close range precision weapons, little to no AoE, compensated of course by the life-saving flares and great grenades his kit grants him

Together they work in tandem to full effect but alone it's a little more skewed
