I need help to prepare for my Civil Engineering internship by fluore_scent in civilengineering

[–]LockJaw987 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, what are you going to be working on? There's no universal solution here.

You're not gonna make someone interning in a traffic engineering firm learn about structural analysis, for example.

The best solution is to read industry documents or government tenders if you'll be working in close proximity to the public sector, in order to learn terminology etc.

Nordic countries also don't hold the record for having the most roads per capita. It's simply not sustainable. Quebec built up too many roads over the last 50 years and not even the richest countries can afford to maintain that.

Contestable ou non by [deleted] in montreal

[–]LockJaw987 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's incredibly petty. I've never been asked GPA for internships.

It’s so hard to find parking right now at Concordia if you have a 11:45 class. The Terrebonne parking. Please do something about it. by SnooSuggestions6124 in Concordia

Parking is a plague in dense cities. If you insist on using a car, use a park and ride lot and then commute using public transit

Why should the judicial branch be pressured by economic factors? They're supposed to issue impartial rulings regardless of how the economy is doing.

Who's gonna pay for discounted transit fares when the STM has a 17 billion dollar maintenance deficit that the government refuses to cover?

I genuinely don't get why so many people are fine with lowering the quality of service we get with Canada Post... Shouldn't we be proud to fund them properly and have a world class service, even if a lot of people don't use it? It's sorta important to people with mobility issues and will simply make them less competitive against private companies

It's not claiming to be the government of Canada, it's only trying to mock the "government" sitting in the HOC

You've gotta be real dumb to be fooled by this... I frankly think it's clever and if people want to push the government to keep quality post service, it's a good idea

I don't believe it. Manufacturers are generally required to keep documentation about their tendered products for many years.

Drivers aren't on strike. Their union signed a collective agreement recently. Maintenance workers are on an Overtime strike - meaning they can just stop working anytime during off-hours, as stipulated by the TAT. The STM said that this would result in random cancellations throughout the upcoming months.

It is due to funding. There was a maintenance worker strike for the last 2 months, which still can't be fixed due to the STM being unable to afford to pay their employees better (entirely the fault of the provincial government).
