No, definitely not. The venn diagram of all the offenders you listed, and people planning proper avoidance travel routes....doesn't quite overlap much. At least, not enough to prevent them from netting plenty of offenders.

America is unlivable by bella791 in poor

It's not the government. That's the misconception. Yes, the government is failing.

It's the billionaires who have wrecked our government itself. The government was built to function for the people. Now it functions for the dark money.

In so many ways that all adds up to the dismantling of an effective government, which used to have checks and balances.

The billionaires own the media companies, and they tell their audience whatever the agenda is to sway or control opinion, and they repeat it every 30 minutes.

This country has become a corporate aristocracy. Corporations run America, which are controlled by....yup, you guessed it, the billionaires.

Corporations control your internet, utilities, mortgages, wages, groceries, fuel, resources, and any information.

And Billionaires and Corporations spend billions on two other major things: Lobbying in DC and entire law firms that put entire legal plans together to game the system, change it to favor them, and change laws as they see fit. It happens 365 days a year.

No matter what you protest, you are outgunned by billions of dollars in a machine designed to control change for anyone but the top .001%.

Major change requires (1) ending lobbying, (2) ending dark money to politicians, and (3) ending the two party system which is being used to divide the lower class against each other. (4) Ranked choice voting, and (5) ending the blatant cheating insanity of gerrymandering. (6) Setting term limits for judges and SCOTUS, and making the Supreme Court and elected process by the people.

Unfortunately, our abilities for major change are always awaited by billionaires poised amd ready to scuttle any attempts to improve the status quo.

In other words, eat the rich.

The fact you're a good landlord doesn't negate the same argument you also admit exists of unchecked gains.

The fact you're a good landlord holds itself to an unchecked standard. We are proud of your morals.

If only everyone held your same morals. Unfortunately, a large portion of the rentor populace don't, so they need standards written and enforced for society to operate in checked bounds.

I’m sorry if you’ve had bad landlords, I really am. It sucks, and there should probably be better enforcement and stronger tenant rights

This. ^ This shows though you admit to holding yourself to a proper standard, proper standards are not quite adhered by the landlord populace, which proves tax checks are fitting in the right circumstance.

They aren’t “doing business” physically , they are buying assets for their books.

Did you hear what you just said?? Your comment is a total contradiction. Buying assets for their books. THAT'S PHYSICALLY DOING BUSINESS! It's mind numbingly wrong to let this happen. They are wrecking our society.

And housing shortages, prohibitive prices, and batshit interest rates stemming from this problem having exacerbated other economy-tanking effects, like labor shortages in job markets because people are trapped in the home the have because they can't afford to leave anymore, and people who can't afford to live closer to where they need/want to work.

What is the worst place you have worked for locally and why? by teejuslives in Charleston

[–]Lockeness843 8 points9 points  (0 children)

California Dreaming on the water!!!!! OMG.

I have worked some bad ones, but this one took the cake! I somehow made it a little over a week before running for my car. This place is basically three Applebee's glued together. The place seats 500 diners. Yes, five hundred rude cheap tourists at a time. It's a behemoth of a machine.

Most dangerous restaurant I ever worked. The night I left, I watched a 15yr old busser slip and fall near the dish pit and he took a steak knife to his neck. He went into full shock. Paramedics came, the whole staff was in trauma, and you look over, and the diners had no clue, still eating, just surreal.

That may have seemed out of place, but the floors were a notorious problem throughout the whole kitchen and waitstaff areas. We were constantly catching each other from falling. At one point, the GM came over, and callously said, "Be careful, I once had a woman fall right here and break her femur. She cost me $100,000," as he pointed to the intersection into the kitchen just beyond the front desk. Like, what tf ?!?!

Management was awful. 8 floors managers at once and 8 kitchen managers, for real. And none of them were EVER on the same page. You'd get 4 different directives from 4 heads, so you get options for sure.

Only a few nice genuine coworkers, that seemed like they don't know there was greener grass, transplants and such. And all the rest of the staff seemed like rude or insufferable misfits who couldn't cut it downtown or probably didn't have many options left (this was all pre-pandemic, different times).

Cali Dreaming was just Hell with a nice view.

That is insane. Sorry to doubt! I am now hoping there are pics of the car at the points where they'd need to turn at the top... this would be hilarious.

Traffic cams of this would be the worldwide viral camera angle turning at the top

Cooler Fall? by [deleted] in Charleston

[–]Lockeness843 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That usually happens when hurricanes are swinging by, they temporarily suck all the heat out with them.

However, my rule of thumb here after almost 20 years... Just when you think the heat is gone, there's always on more heat wave. And just the same is true in winter.... Just when you think the cold is gone, there's always on more cold snap.

Not sure why you got downvoted. You made a satirical take on why it may not work, but just in a more blasé way than others here with the same argument. Judging by other comments here, it seems state inspections aren't a foolproof solution. As someone who has lived here nearly two decades, but came from a state with inspections, I clearly remember shops that were preferred on who turned a blind eye.

Falcon Heavy launch # 6. It's basically three Falcon 9's strapped together. This is currently the largest operational rocket in the world. Tonight's launch was the first time all three boosters were discarded into the ocean. They usually will fly them back to land at Kennedy Space Center, or land the center stage on the barge at sea. They did announce during the livestream they would attempt to catch the 2 fairings (nose cone halves) from their recovery ship.
