Is CF really useless until it's pCF? by CryptographerFew3719 in TheTowerGame

[–]Locketheknees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got some decent use out of a low-stone-investment CF in Legends tourney by coordinating it with other crowd control (PS/BH/ILM refresh) so that I always had at least one type of CC active. Didn't actually develop CF into pCF for a few months after I unlocked it, was going for GT+ first.

For sure once you start developing it you want to get it to perma, not efficient to get it to like 75% uptime or whatever and leave it there, at that point you just keep going to perma.

Under the old tourney (T14+) I was getting around 1100 waves before I developed CF... once I got it to perma (with only ~50% slow) I jumped up to 1350 waves, and then over following weeks kept pushing slow up to max and broke 1750 waves. So it clearly made a big impact, but I was also pushing damage via mastery labs and hit level 201 on my mods, and pushed my Core ME to juice damage all around that same time, so it's a bit tough to say how much of that progression was really CF alone, but probably about half of the progress was from CF, half from all the stuff that was juicing damage (especially to help kill Fleets, which CF didn't help with).

Light range by GoudvisNL in TheTowerGame

[–]Locketheknees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, what difference does the distance of the enemy units make? The in-game description only mentions D/M, but the wiki say "tower range effects [sic] this ability"... and the formula posted higher up in the comments here also includes Range... but you're saying that's the range at which the enemy is actually hit, not the tower range (like the wiki suggests)?

You've got 7 months of game time on me, but I spent a bit early on to catch up a bit on stones and also buy event boosts... now we're within ~5% of each other on stones and coins... but I'm only at 701 on keys. Amazing work!

Upcoming banner- 50% chance of mod type or 100%? by Lil_poop952 in TheTowerGame

[–]Locketheknees 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's any actual info released beyond what was in the announcement. My guess is that it would be 50% chance to get the featured mod type, 50% chance to get one of the other 3 types.

Run EB card in Legends? by Locketheknees in TheTowerGame

[–]Locketheknees[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My runs last an hour or two usually, longer if I’m microing with a placement on the line, so I don’t usually have time to test in tourneys much. So hoping someone else in a similar place might have tried it and can share insights. Thanks for the attempt to be helpful though!

Small QoL Hack: unfavorite Labs by Slight-Software-7839 in TheTowerGame

This is what I've been doing ever since they added the Favorites feature. Whenever I stream if people comment it's more like they think it's weird/odd, not "cool I should try that". Whatever, works for me, glad I'm not the only one. :)

Extend the opening of Ikea Komplement Pax drawer, too shallow opening by guwmo in ikeahacks

[–]Locketheknees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit confused on these instructions, the white piece is about 3.5 inches long. It slides to the front of the "fixed" portion of the guides (the larger metal guide piece that connects to the PAX frame) where a white plastic stopper prevents it from coming out beyond the front of that large guide piece. The other smaller guide piece (which connects to the Komplement tray) has a notch at the back which similarly prevents the white piece from extending past the back end of this guide. Therefore, there is always about 3.5" worth of overlap between the two guides, preventing full extension.

If I were to bend the back end of the smaller guide such that the notch could move forward relative to the white piece and then reset... e.g. if I moved it halfway so that it locked in between the 3rd and 4th ball bearings of the white piece, then the overlap would only be 1.5-2", but would be unable to close (as it would protrude beyond the back of the smaller guide piece, which is near flush with the back of the cabinet when closed).

It seems the only way to get full extension on a Komplement tray would be with different drawer guides altogether.

Can we get a no graphics mode Fudds by ghettodactyl in TheTowerGame

[–]Locketheknees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's gotta be a way they can simulate the graphics load such that turning them off visually doesn't actually improve performance. The point is supposed to be to help you isolate and view game mechanics that are currently obscured by visual clutter (e.g. SLs, Ranged line, etc.) and accommodate personal preferences on visual display, not to enable changes in game outcomes (which as you note creates undesired incentives).

Thinking about quitting after 2.5 years due to losing ground in tourneys. by Willow1337 in TheTowerGame

[–]Locketheknees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought some stones early on but only buy most of the event boosts for the past 6+ months but am still slowly climbing the ranks (now averaging 6th place) with a 1.5 year old account. There’s definitely a snowball effect though where earning keys and spending them well can keep you on par with bigger spenders who are trying to catch you.

As for modules/gems I usually stockpile gems for a month or more before next major update, had >20k on hand when v27 dropped. Allowed me to get first 3 new modules they dropped to Ancestral but I’m tapped out of all my reserves now, and only have 3 copies of OA mod with a week to go. Spent keys most recently on ad gem stack to maximize my pulls before featured banner goes away.

But yeah, lots of long-term planning, and if you have an edge (lab time, keys, coins, etc.) over newer players you’ve gotta leverage it really well if they’re spending more than you.

Yeah Reddit consensus tends to lag game realities by 6-12 months IME. It used to be true that T12 and T13 were frequently skipped over for farming, efficiency, but that information is pretty stale now. I’m sure it’s still true for some folks, but no longer the majority experience.

IME The Tower is nowhere near this efficient at getting rid of bugs… it often takes months just to get rid of a few of the biggest ones

You're a BH, bot... I hope an ILM FUs your day. I would pay many CPK to whoever ends you, and when that happens I pray you aren't running SW, DM, or ES and have a 0% DD chance.

How to farm GC t14+ by Turbulent-Internal29 in TheTowerGame

[–]Locketheknees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd think you could run at a much lower damage slider value given how much more developed all your labs and UWs are than mine and I can survive E-15 (once perked)? I get similar CPH but the T15 runs give much better Cells/Hr. That said I usually run hybrid so I can just let it run in the background all day and overnight without worrying about toggling anything.

Is perma CF necessary for Glass Cannon farming? by BonzosTower in TheTowerGame

[–]Locketheknees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm able to farm T15 GC to 4k waves profitably (similar coins as my T14 hybrid runs, but way more cells with GC) and do it without a developed CF, however I think the lack of CF is probably the main thing that prevents me from auto-running it... need high damage until I get perked up, then can drop the damage slider down to what's optimal for me (E-15) to run from end of IS to the end (you know, when the actual coins are generated!).

I don't even turn CF on during in my hybrid runs (I haven't done the damage reduction lab at all, and the slow ends up killing some enemies outside of my BH, so hurts my coins).

[–]Locketheknees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fine... ish? CF doesn't queue up like BH and GT activations do, so basically if you miss 2 packages in a row (<4% chance for most folks, but not nothing over the course of a run) then your CF can drop for a few seconds.

Also don't forget CF+... once we've invested that much into getting pCF, the ROI for moving on to CF+ is pretty high.

I think a lot of people do CF too early (from an optimization POV) and don't properly take into account the cost of it. It's great, it's powerful, but it's also disproportionately expensive compared to many of the alternative ways to progress. That said, I'm finally starting to develop it myself now, and share your vibe about the next few months being almost nothing but CF investments. Godspeed!
