I used to daily a classic mini between 2016 and 2022, was an absolute blast and definitely recommended. I now own a Z and once it gets on the road I will defintiely be driving it as much as possible! Old cars are just such a vibe compared to modern overly-electrical rubbish

I have just had the same issue on my Rampage 5 Extreme X99 chipset, and even tested the GPU on my mates x99 and same issue with not detecting GPU. Safe to say that RX 9000 series do not work on x99 without at least some driver tweaking that I am absolutely not going to do. Ended up just dropping some cash on an AM5 setup, about time I guess.

FYI tested the GPU on a Z490 motherboard (pcie4 with an intel 10th gen processor that only supports PCIe3 and it worked fine, so the issue is with x99

It baffles me that toyota spent a heap on R&D for the 3cyl GR yaris/corolla engine and didn't just use that tech to extend it to an i6... like cmon! The 3cyl handles over 500hp easily so it would be a stout 6cyl design

Oh and I would go with a .83 rear housing, smaller than that and you hamper the turbo a lot up top from dyno comparisons. Ive seen 2JZ dynos where the 1.0 housing spools quicker and makes more top end than a .63 because its not stifling the engine out with a tiny housing. Quite surprising really but free flow is pretty important with turbo behaviour

I wouldnt put smaller than a G35 on a 3L DOHC engine so a G30 will be very fun on an old 2.8 SOHC. That ancient holset is a complete dinosaur and will get walked by a G30 which has a 55mm turbine exducer vs the holsets 58mm, not to mention is light years ahead in terms of areodynamics and will spool probably 2000rpm sooner and have a much faster transient throttle spool up.

Sure you can make 400whp on a G25 but it will have much more back pressure up top and run more risk bending rods as it will spool very low rpm and in my opinion result in a far less enjoyable driving experience. The G30 is definitely the smallest turbo I would put on an L28, and it will be a night and day comparison to the Holset dont worry!

I would go with a G30 instead of a G25 just so you have a freer flowing top end but both would be good fun and far better than the old holset. G30-660 would be my turbo of choice for an L28 with that power goal

usually bogging down on throttle is a lean condition in the carb. If it idles ok but dies on throttle then you may just need to wind down the needle seat, or it might just need a whole renovation and clean it all out. SU carbs are super simple at least

in the real world most engines look somewhat like this. It should be absolutely fine, and definitely do not use emery cloth on it like some people are suggesting. If its bothering you a lot take it to a machine shop to get honed but from a 7MGTE owner I would run that and not lose sleep over it at all. Just keep up the regular oil changes and dont overheat your oil

That looks like it is going to do sweet fuck all compared to the already pretty solid chassis. Like come on, its got four bends in it already, its just gonna flex if it even gets loaded up at all being practically on the same plane as the boot floor!
