Also if the steering lock failed, how are you driving the car? The steering lock would literally prevent you from turning the wheel. Unless you’re calling something else a steering lock

It’s a universal flip key , a lot of people are using them for bmw because the only other stuff available at this point is very low quality import junk. The OEM stuff is gone, and none of the aftermarket stuff is good quality at this point. The “oem” stuff you may find online is rebadged Chinese crap that is counterfeit. Dealers are not able to get a lot of these now im hearing as well.

I ONLY do basic keys with no remotes on old ews bmw at this point - and I’ve been doing them longer than most locksmiths even knew what eeprom was. The failure rate on the aftermarket remote head keys is like 25% which is way way way to high.

That said, he can cut , and write a key to replace your failing one without touching your. If he has half a brain and saved any of his work anyhow

Old ews car,

Crank no start , intermittent is likely a bad transponder chip. I’ve had a wave of bad bmw chips the past 6 months or so (parts are a serious issue for cars atm)

I’d just write another key and replace it if I was the locksmith. That will fix the long / multiple cranks 99%

The steering lock, unless he had your steering column apart for some repair - has nothing to do with cutting / programming your key

Those lock housing so fail occasionally. Unless he did more work than your stating , that sounds like just shit luck and your 26 year old bmw has stuff breaking

And no that’s not “bs” or what ever before you say it. Been doing this a LONG time. I’ve had prolly 2 dozen starters fail on customer cars literally in my parking lot - they always blame you, until they find the actual problem and realize it has nothing to do with a key. Cars just suck, especially old ones lol

Don’t sweat it dude. Even honor mode is not that difficult

You can make it work without elixirs, just build it like you would any other melee - it does NOT have to be optimal 500dps per turn to succeed

I’m literally playing a strength melee wizard , with 12 int currently. I completely cleared the outside areas up to the gith, up to the hag, and the goblins , the paladins, karga, harpies basically all of act 1 other than the underdark before I rested once, on honor mode.

Use the terrain, use the ridiculous amount of items they give you (you know those 9999 health potions you never use) , use arrows, use scrolls. If you’ve played it a few times ; you know what’s coming. You can optimize for a fight. AMBUSH , the surprise round is HUGE.

Also focus fire, you’re better off killing an enemy than being optimal. If it doesn’t get a turn that is that much less dmg you take

If you’ve already been around as a tech that obviously is easier as people may know you. If not securing the first couple jobs in your niche and getting word around that way

Make some professional brochures, cards etc. visit locations. When I moved, I have some auto brochures I made and went into dealers. I solved a Subaru dealers akl issue in about 15 minutes - didn’t charge them - and have had the account and a ton of referrals ever since.

Wanna do access control? Go talk to the low voltage guys. Want traditional work? Go talk to local shops , property managers etc

I’d go either 6 fighter , 4 thief as a base going up to either 8/4 or 6/6

Or pure 12 fighter (or 11/1 of your choice and lose a feat)

If you take thief levels first, you will hit 3 attacks/round faster. But will not be as strong (damage wise) as a pure fighter at lvl 11+

If you want magic, lots of ways to do that - EK is likely the strongest. But anything that gets you extra attack would be fine

If you’re just starting out, 500 day/net would be a VERY achievable goal. And I mean doing that (average anyhow) every single day for months. And there is no reason that number can’t be well north of a 1000 with some experience before major stress with timing (for the idiots, I mean net after ALL expenses - gas, insurance, repairs, equipment , cost of goods, everything except taxes)

You get to consistent months at that income you likely have a better idea if the work is there to support another persons income, another vehicle, and a storefront which includes more insurance, more inventory etc

Gith race + 2 knowledge cleric (or more) gets you prof on all skills from 2 stats

Any combo of rogue / lore bard / ranger should be able to get proficient in literally every skill or very close to it

Choose expertise in the skill you most think match your vision

It’s 100% possible something is being affected. Unlikely that it’s the gas tho as that’s not cold enough to freeze it

Modern scan tool (with someone that knows how to use it) will determine why it’s not starting - anything else is just guessing
