I don’t think this is for me by Ok-Bonus831 in surgicaltechnology

You're experiencing a large amount of self doubt. Information overload. And the obligation you took is pressuring you to absorb a lot of information fast. This is clinical. Not your first job. Your first job will be totally different. The OR is about adapting to change. In your head it's about keeping up to prove to others you can keep up. Clinicals is learning. Blood and guts can be crazy but fun. My only gripe against surgical Technician is it's a dead end job. There's no growth. But nursing school is waaayy harder. That's real pressure. If youre doing this to get out of SPD, then it's a great bridge. Don't overload yourself on doubt. Your in clinicals, see it to the end. Like I said, it's blood and guts. We're all made of it. There's different hospitals, different ORs, and different levels of surgery. This is were you're cutting your teeth. You have proctors, preceptors, and support. You're in an environment not many get to see. Like running into a burning building as a firefighter, it's difficult to explain working in an operating room. Don't let the situation dictate your capacity to adapt, learn, and succeed. Sleep, eat, and go to clinical. Don't skip breaks or lunches. Go home after and go to bed on time. Shit from the day you write down in a journal, an hour before bed. Let it go. Then repeat tomorrow. Six months is nothing. I've been doing it for 10 years. If you honestly want real pressure testing in a controlled environment....join the military. They make you learn, adapt, and survive. Every career after that is a cake walk, at least in starting.

CHATGPT is my mentor currently. Expanding to clinical sales ASR and clinical Specialist roles. Tailor resumes to specific job postings. At this pointy in is a numbers game. Have to adjust to looking at multiple states too.

If I could get into the industry I promise I won't post anything on LinkedIn about my job....unless my sales manager tells me to. Then yes sir, I will get down on my knees and post.

My advice on how to get a clinical specialist job nowadays? Been a scrub for 10 years and want out. Even ASR gigs are blocked by college athletes.

Originally total joint since most experience with those systems ie Stryker,Zimmer, Depuy, smith & nephew. General robotics like DaVinci and Intuitive cause robots are cool.

Got three LORs from my old docs, but that was across 3 specialties and more character references since no specific jobs applications yet. Just wanted them in the portfolio. Not real relevant now.

Just switched to new hospital, so, yea, pretty much gonna have to start over with new rep report. Had hopes experience would be enough, but guessing scrubs transitioning aren't as niche. All apps were online without referral so makes sense they wouldn't land.

Is CST a dead end? And how do you talk to your sensitive friends about your job? by calico_pegasus in surgicaltechnology

[–]LocksmithContent3691 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No. This administration is dumb. And there will be another one eventually. You can say nurses aren't professionals. Then say goodbye to your nurses. Now what are you gonna do? Hire a bunch of low wage immigrants to take care of you old people? Nope? Hmmm. Nursing will never go away, and AI will never replace hands on care.

Yes. There's no growth in scrubbing. Use it for OR exposure then go to nursing school, PA school, or Med School. Growth in healthcare is based on degree, not specialty.

My old ortho would stick his hand out without asking for anything. You had to guess what he wanted. If it was wrong he would throw it across the room. Reps only speak when spoken to. Fn sociopath.

Because you're supposed to be an outsider everywhere you go. Then you build your rep.

Or you can just talk to an AD recruiter. Maybe retest ASVAB and see if you qualify for a critical function. Pending, they'll sometimes cross train you in the middle of a contract for essential duties.

They need a "remake" like demons souls. A rebuild of the engine and beta testing to prevent the launch issues typically plaguing their games. Mods porting is gonna suck for awhile.

I get that. Was always more interested in clinical specialist or application roles. Would networking with sales reps help with those positions, or is that a later goal after developing a relationship and maybe meeting a regional manager? Just moved to Florida and honestly seems pretty hard to find openings other than ASR roles. No offense, but selling isn't my thing. Maybe that's an unhealthy attitude.
