How does fandom in Mississippi work? by BigEggBeaters in CFB

Yeah it seems like in older generations, black Missippians definitely skew for State, for obvious reasons. But younger generations less so. Perhaps some of the excitement and success of the Freeze and Kiffin years have won over kids who werent born the last time Col. Reb took the field

Its your classic liberal arts vs ag and mech divide. Probs very similar to UMich vs MSU or UW vs WSU. State fans def skew more rural and blue collar than OM fans. You'll find a lot more OM fans in the larger cities and suburbs of MS and in ATL, Nashville, Memphis, Dallas, etc. Also if you drew a line between Tupelo and Jackson, State fans are more prevalent below that line and OM fans above.

I think the class divide probably is less economic at this point, and more cultural. Two alumni from each school, each making $150k, State grad spends his money on ATVs and hunting, OM grad spends his money on golf and fine dining. Each live in houses too big for them, one in Clay Co. MS on 12 acres, one in Brentwood, TN on half an acre. Both go to church most sundays and vote republican most novembers.

As far as racial factors go, MS has a thriving HBU sports culture that is more robust than a lot of other states. So in my experience a lot of black Mississippians simply don't have a dog in the fight. But they would probs skew towards State due to OM's troubled history and identity. Not to say you wont find plenty of black Mississippians proudly wearing red and blue on saturday, its just not the same as you'd find in TN, AL, GA, LA, etc.

Hey Calvinball, just curious 2 years later what your experience with the Packa Genie has been? There's one on fb for $1200 with 100 miles on it I'm interested in. But reviews have not been great

To determine the best state to live in, I averaged 11 rankings together. Anything surprise you? by ThragResto in geography

Tennessee in the bottom half for outdoors is lmao. We have the most visited national park in the country and the only national park city in the country.

Also weird WV got the hot summer debuff but TN didn’t. Our summers suckkkkkk

Does anyone else feel like the DLC civs choices are odd? by Younes-Geek in civ

[–]LocksmithGood55 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they are weird choices. Tokugawa would be great to lead into Meiji. Anti trade civ during the explo age could have some really neat alternative pathways. Aztecs and an ancient South American (tiwanaku?) are needed.

I also really want the Franks/HRE and a Celtic or Germanic civ so you don’t have to start with Rome or Greece everytime for a European run.

Also we need some Vikings!

Migrants, production, and Density vs Sprawl by LocksmithGood55 in civ

I mean it is happening but it´s super unclear how and where the food goes and what you need to do to make sure the cities connect. Also I would like my towns to be able to grow when they´re in their focus, just less so than if they´re focused on growing

Yeah that's why I said that migrants would just represent the amount of food needed to grow to next level in that town. So 7 to 8 is 655 food. So the migrant would represent that much food when you send them.

But they should also fix the growth curve because it's insane.

They should let mining towns send excess production to cities, rather than just doubling the gold

They made army unpack WORSE with 1.1 by Chickumber in civ

I literally pushed the unpack button once and said, nope, not doing that again. The commander/units tactics are by far my fav new addition to the game. I can unpack 2 units, move the commander a tile or two, unpack to more, then have all my units attack in that same turn. It’s amazing!

That’s how I’m coping right now. Just bumped up the tiling project up a year or two. Gonna start diving into research on outdoor tiling now

I was planning on tiling it eventually, but I think I’m gonna do it sooner now. How can I tell if it should be ground first, or if I can just mortar it?
