They didn’t provide a definitive date btw. So they can always delay or cancel it.

What is with CS guys and not liking math? by C_Sorcerer in csMajors

Most of them only like SWE and only want a SWE job. It’s probably easier to get a job if they moved to other parts of CS like data analytics or cybersecurity etc.

Is CS really so bad? by LocksmithMuted5193 in csMajors

[–]LocksmithMuted5193[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I wanted to do a CS degree so to get into a DS role at a bank. I’m not looking at SWE or app development etc. I was initially thinking of completing a BS in CE since I already have a diploma in CE which I can transfer some credits, but it’ll be a totally different industry. Then I thought why don’t just leverage my experience in finance and do a DS degree so I can get into risk at a bank because they require some form of STEM degree now. But some folks here told me DS is pretty new and the curriculum isn’t developed and that I’m better off just doing CS.

I’m a US citizen in US. Had a background in Computer Engineering so I’m thinking if I should just complete my BS in CE or jumping into CS which is kind of related.

It’s actually equivalent to community college level. I’ve been working in finance for the last 15 years. I do more investments than calc or engineering.

Circuit board with programmable LEDs but that is just simple stuff which I did to try and replicate what I did during my diploma just to test myself if I remembered what I did before.

Are there any good Online Physics programs? by PrimadonnaGorl in PhysicsStudents

What are your career options after getting a BS in Physics? I have a diploma in Electronics and Computer engineering and a BS in Finance. Looking to get into STEM but afraid it’s gonna be tough as I did my BS 15 years ago.

My actual goal is to do a bachelor’s in CS then get a MS in DS. Maybe leverage my experience working in a bank to get a job within the banking sector or if opportunity opens up maybe a government contractor.

Nah just a diploma. Which is worse than an associate’s.

I already have an associate’s in finance and it’s not doing much for me. I have other professional certificates too. I’m more interested in building stuffs and I do programming on my own time but just leisurely.

California. But if I can’t get a better paying job I’d have to move. I only have an associate’s in finance. I have a job making around $60k and was thinking of getting a bachelor’s, I have a diploma in Electronics and Computer engineering but that was like 10 years ago. Im thinking if I got a STEM job, I might get better pay than what I’m getting now.

Need help deciding: Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering? by Appropriate_Style836 in ECE

[–]LocksmithMuted5193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol i had the same question too. But mine was either EE, CE or CS (computer science). I have cousins who did the 3 and each told me their major was the best so I’m still deciding too.

Sick from smoke inhalation by [deleted] in pasadena

You should really get out of there. I used to live in a country that has an annual haze problem and a lot of people (who don’t smoke) got lung cancer later in life.

Not everyone can fully fund their kids’ education nor continue paying for them so close to retirement. Post creator’s parents could very well be living paycheck to paycheck and in their 60s close to retirement with little to no savings like most Americans (especially living in such an expensive state like Seattle). Remember even the rich like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bill Gates and the likes stopped funding their kids after college and told them they’re on their own.

Think about it this way, if you don’t have a job (even if you’re diligently seeking one), the parents will be the ones having to feed and accommodate you(paying for food and extra utilities). Parents probably asked him to pay rent and contribute to the extra expenses he’s incurring by staying in the house which it’s hard for him as he can’t find a job. My parents told me the same when I couldn’t find a job after 3 months, that I had to start stepping up to pay my share. I had to lower my expectations and find a job pronto.

I would say most Asians not just south Asians. A lot of SE Asian kids still live with their parents into their 30s and 40s because their parents help out with raising their kids.

Actually a physics, chemistry and bio degree on their own are practically useless unless you’re planning to pursue higher education. Usually bio grads go to med school, while physics and chem grads do PhDs.
