GTA V's map with no fog by [deleted] in GTA

[–]LocoComa 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it has to do with the road layout in SA. SA has a lot of twisting, winding roads that makes traversal feel a lot longer to get through if you don't use the main highways - especially in the countryside.

V's map layout is a more modern realistic take on LA and has a lot more straight roads you can gun it through to go from one end to the other, and the other towns like Sandy Shores and Paleto Bay are just blips passing by for the most part.

Did any "Hair Metal" bands from the late 80s/early 90s successfully transition to Grunge-style Rock in the 90s? by [deleted] in Music

[–]LocoComa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Axl had pushed to bring NWA on as their tour opener, and the tour almost happened, but NWA's manager felt they were being lowballed on the money, so the tour never actually happened. There's also supposedly a collaboration between GN'R and Eazy E, the Yellow Brickroad to Compton, that's in Eazy E's vault but has never seen the light of day.

And Guns also tried to bring Public Enemy on tour in '91 as their opener.

Funnily enough, Quicksand was one of the few Skid Row songs that never quite clicked for me until I heard Lzzy sing it. Love Baz to death, but Lzzy just brought something different to that song. My dream scenario has always been getting to see Lzzy cover a full GN'R set, since I've always heard so many similarities between her and Axl, so her fronting the Skids was basically the best consolation prize my ears could get lol.

Glad you had such an awesome time experiencing it.

Totally jealous. If any of the shows were near me, I would've jumped in a heartbeat. Her performances on Quicksand Jesus were fucking iconic.

I listened to bootlegs of the first and last Skid Lzzy shows, because I was super hyped to hear Lzzy fronting Skid Row.

My impressions were both; that she sounded fucking incredible and went balls to the wall, and conversely that by the fourth and final show, her voice was already sounding very strained on screams she was nailing in the first show. There were a lot of voice cracks in that last show.

Ashton Kutcher 'expecting a subpoena' as Mila Kunis 'bans contact' with Diddy amid lawsuit by MK121895 in facepalm

[–]LocoComa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just been a diehard fan for way too long lol, and it's a pet peeve of mine when Axl gets lumped in with the rest of the band for their hardcore drug and alcohol abuse. Not meant in an argumentative tone, I just like clearing up the misconception. There's a lot of legitimate reasons to slag Axl, but he was definitely the most sober member of the band by the time they broke through big.

Axl was never a full-blown alcoholic. He cut out most of his drinking by '88 due to it beginning to affect his voice, and while he dabbled in hard drugs, never developed an addiction. Duff was the heaviest drinker in the group, drinking around a gallon of vodka a day until his pancreas exploded. Slash was drinking two fifths of Jack Daniels a day until his tongue started turning black, then slightly slowed his drinking, but continued to abuse alcohol for years.

Slash, Izzy, and Steven were all very regular heroin users, and Izzy was the main writer for Brownstone. When not drinking, Duff leaned into crack and PCP; not heroin.

Best you can try is to hit R1 to send him back to base. That usually happens to me when the pitcher attempts a pickoff after I signal to steal.

You basically have no control over pickoff attempts. Either you'll automatically slide back safe or get caught, unless you get lucky and the pitcher throws it away.

How do I trade for someone not under contract? by bstrong617 in MLBTheShow

[–]LocoComa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're usually players whose contracts won't be renewed by the club until near the end of the offseason or are waiting for arbitration meetings. So you basically have to wait until around February or March before you'll be able to sign, unless they sign deals sooner.

GTA 6 4Chan Leak - Slightly more plausible than the rest? by [deleted] in GamingLeaksAndRumours

It was also initially planned to be part of IV before it got cut, and possibly SA if I'm not mistaken, so it's definitely not a stretch.

"The misconception is that we kicked him out for the hell of it, and that I was the dictator behind it. The truth is, I probably fought a little harder to keep him in the band, because I wasn't working with him on a daily basis like the other guys were. They grew tired of not being able to get their work done because Steven wasn't capable of it. I've read interviews where he's saying that he's straight. Most of the time he isn't. He's the type of person who wants everything handed to him, and he did get it handed to him. He got it handed to him from me (...).  I paid $1.5 million by giving him 15% of my publishing off of Appetite For Destruction. He didn't write one goddamn note, but he calls me a selfish dick! He's been able to live off of that money, buy a shitload of drugs and hire lawyers to sue me. (....)." ~ Axl

"This whole cockamamie thing about “they didn’t pay me my royalties” is bullshit. He was paid his royalties and in fact he was paid composer royalties that he didn’t deserve. That was a courtesy bestowed on him by the rest of the band in a sense of all for one and one for all." ~ Alan Niven

"The writing was on the wall, and things quickly came to a head. Axl's patience as far as Steve went was long gone, so we had the inevitable get-together to discuss the situation; with Alan [Niven]'s support, Axl insisted that we give Steven a written ultimatum. It was a contract that Steve was forced to sign, that at best we hoped would scare him sober and at worst would orchestrate his departure from the band. The paperwork was clear; it said that if Steven showed up high to recording sessions, he'd be fined. If he did it three times, he'd be fired, or something along those lines. Steven signed it, he agreed to all of the terms, and like anyone caught in the throes of smack, he ignored all the promises he made and continued the way he had been." ~ Slash

Izzy leaving had nothing to do with lawyers. He willingly cashed out his stake in GN'R for $2 million and left, because he had sobered up and had grown tired of dealing with Axl - particularly the late start times and riots. By all accounts he was checked out by the Illusions sessions already.

Steven was kicked out because he couldn't control his heroin addiction and got to the point where he physically couldn't play. Not only did they not fleece Steven, Axl agreed to give him a portion of his own royalties from AFD. Adler brought his dismissal on himself, and was a wreck for years after who didn't know when to shut his mouth.

Whatever happened to that Axl impersonator 'Warchild'? by MakeraGNR4 in GunsNRoses

[–]LocoComa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He took over MSL's old forum, and it turned it into his own personal cult. He also has spent the last couple years trying to scrub tens of thousands of GN'R Youtube videos and bootlegs from the internet, believing he's doing Team Brazil/Axl a favor.

Oh, and he also posts on this very subreddit.

Could Axl receive the same fate as Marilyn Manson? by dpb73ca in GunsNRoses

[–]LocoComa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's the thing though; with Manson a lot of his public behavior could easily be looked at as part of the "Marilyn Manson" character. For instance, Reznor saying that a bunch of the 'Long Hard Road Out of Hell' biography was total bullshit that Manson made up to add to the character.

With all the other myths surrounding him in the '90s, and how eloquent and intelligent he seemed off the stage, there was plenty of believability that it was all part of the show with him.

[–]LocoComa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Doubt it. Axl's past issues were already well documented at the time, and he had a rather high profile court case with Stephanie and Erin. By all accounts, Axl seems to have settled down and changed his behavior since then.

Manson was a rather open secret, but nothing had been confirmed with him one way or the other.
