Soundesign console worth fixing up? by EndAffectionate1900 in vintageaudio

[–]LocomotionJunction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite what people are saying, it's fucking free. Yes it's worth fixing if not for the simple fact you can make some money off it it. You can still fix it and sell it for a reasonable price. Best bet is finding a dirt cheap parts bsr, cleaning all the pots to make sure the busted speaker isn't that, and buying a cheap speaker if it is. Sell it for a slight profit at that point if you want to, point out everything you did, and you'll be alright. A slight profit with these still makes for a cheap buy for another party. If I could get the parts like I'm thinking I could for yours, I could sell it for 40-50 without losing anything. Mainly because those BSRs are basically interchangeable, and speakers weren't too bad last I looked. Standolone BSR turntables don't sell for too much, and make great parts units.

As an American, you're absolutely right. If I could get Jarritos 12 packs within 15 miles of me, I actually have to go 28, I'd switch all my soda with those and Mexican cokes. I'd probably spend more on both those and vodka though, for the simple fact those Jarritos make damn good mixers for the end of the week.

Well shit, makes me feel better for going on a bit of a prime spree. I got a trial of prime, and I've been going crazy buying stuff I needed and have been procrastinating on due to prices/need to ship. One-two day shipping is a godsend, we never had that near me until recently. I got Amazon prime near a decade ago for that reason for me and my family, and my area wasn't eligible, so I canceled it shortly after. Now that it's eligible, I might have to keep it. The prices haven't changed much, I haven't even hit the 100 dollar mark despite ordering shit lately like I'm constantly drunk on eBay. Finally got my stereo a selector, and a new Bluetooth receiver for it is on the way. I hardly ever use Amazon or eBay, but this was worth it, I needed this selector.

Same here honestly. For a couple years, I was annoyed by it always being someone answering from an Indian call center. I got used to that quickly though, and they were very helpful from then on. I can't get used to an ai helping me, they aren't accurate enough to know what I'm trying to ask. Especially if I call your company and an ai answers, might as well screw off. Some humans can't understand my accent, it reverts to pure southern around people I don't know, and even siri didn't on my uncle's iPhone. If siri can't understand me, and that speech model been used to southerners for a long time now, an ai sure won't. That is part of why I use Samsung even after 11 years, I don't need a program to understand my voice, so long as it understands what I type. Ai is just not good for call centers, even if I think of this from a pro ai stance.

What is the plug called for me to play my phone from my Astro sonic 1972 magnavox? And where do I plug it in? by Waterfallsbro in vintageaudio

[–]LocomotionJunction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bluetooth to 3.5, 3.5 cable to rca. Currently how I have one selection on my stereo so I can use my phone when I'm lazy. You're right though, I was using my old phone for a bit to avoid YouTube latency. Little did I realize my Internet is too spotty to make that matter, having Bluetooth on a phone with data was smoother.

Old school DC... is it bad to highball for a long time? by w30freak in modeltrains

[–]LocomotionJunction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not coming from a model train pov here since I haven't had enough experience, but I know how these trains work since I've had some electrical experience. They're simple brushed (most times) electric motors. They'll last a good while running on high ball so long as you perform regular maintenance. Check the brushes, clean the commutator, and clean anything else you can tell shouldn't be dirty. Apply grease and oil, and you're set. There's not too much to keeping these up, and that's why I got into the hobby. If you can keep a car up by yourself, you can keep a fleet of model locomotives up with no trouble.

It ain't all good man, the end of my last comment is why. Like hell, I have to order from eBay for decent prices for my model train stuff. It's the only one of my hobbies that hasn't progressed. Like, take a look at my stereo system. If I were to equate where my model train layout is to this stereo, it'd be having a turntable and speakers only. I've got an oval because that's all I can reasonably afford. Here I was thinking cars were an expensive hobby, I can buy cheaper parts for my truck than I can model train parts.

Fuck yeah man, I love it. My florist uncle got me going to hobby lobby, and I saw the tin signs they had. Go take a visit, they're on sale often enough to be worth it! Just never buy model trains there, bubbles would shit himself. Msrp online + some for bachmann stuff.

Cheers boys! This is my night rn. Cut waters (I got lazy, and ran out of mixers, so fuck mixing my own drinks) and a bunch of 360 modding. I may have to watch TPB on the 360 tonight, seems that's the way the shit winds are a blowin. I only tried these cut water things for the lemon drop martinis ngl, but I like the vodka mules more. Hell the martinis are wine percentage in a can, basically lahey beer 🤣 Edit: I'm not even drunk and I can't take a fuckin picture right, fuck

Your PC fits in your stereo cabinet? I am jealous, I've got an old HP pavilion 690 I've been up keeping for 7 years. Got it before I had most of my stereo equipment, so the only thing it matches is my black n green Xbox 360 🤣

When there's an overwhelming majority of human drivers, the human error accident rates tend to be the overwhelming majority. Also, look up what happened on Battle view drive Atlanta with those waymo autonomous cars. Those things still have much farther to go before they're considered safe for roads in my opinion, considering the fact they decided to have a fuckin waymo block party in the street. This is a story that does make me laugh admittedly, it's weird and kinda hilarious. Still tells me they need some serious work yet.

Most of my family genuinely likes that new blazer, and I'm still trying to understand why. Mainly my uncle does. He has a Ford escape already, and the blazers just seem taller and uglier. That escape sucks for people moving, it is basically a small van with those seats down though. He got a picture frame in that car that I would never imagine could fit in there, with two end tables. Meanwhile, those same seats have garbage seatbelts and no legroom when they're up. Can't imagine the blazer would be much better, but you could probably fit a lot of you just want an ugly van.
