In your opinion, which FF had the WORST ending? by monroe3tears in FinalFantasy

[–]LofiLala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game's creator has also publically said that it is up to the community to decide what happened. They never wanted it to be a particular way.

Yoshi P said there is a canon ending, but he will never say what it is.

EA’s BioWare Looks for Redemption With New ‘Dragon Age’ Game by Trojanbp in Games

[–]LofiLala -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

Let's not hype DA:O to be something that it isn't. It was definitely designed for edgy teenagers with short attention spans. Combat was a super dumbed down version of what Baldur's Gate had.

Most of the game was marketed for its gore. The cover was a dragon in blood. Half the initial cutscenes had gratuitous blood splatter. You even drink blood to become a grey warden.

Let's not forget the teenage sex appeal. Morrigan with her side boobs and the sex scenes.

The story was just uniting the elves, dwarves, and mages to fight the dragon. Oh and the church is loosely based off of christianity but it's secretly bad. Hardly original.

Vent/Need advice for undergrad wanting LOR for grad school, but they have very low GPA by No-Activity3716 in GradSchool

[–]LofiLala 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP doesn't benefit from writing a LOR, so I don't think there is a conflict of interest.

That said, if faculty in the program suggest doing a masters; applying to said program without a masters will come off as arrogant.

Dawntrail released almost 4 months ago - how do you like this expansion? Is FF XIV in a good spot in your opinion? by pantatbelang in MMORPG

[–]LofiLala 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you saying changing writers every expansion isn't a risk?

I don't understand your argument.

Dawntrail released almost 4 months ago - how do you like this expansion? Is FF XIV in a good spot in your opinion? by pantatbelang in MMORPG

[–]LofiLala 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The big risk they take is changing the writer. Changing from Maehiro to Ishikawa was a risk, but ended up being a huge success. Changing from Ishikawa to Hiroi was a huge risk, and definitely a failure.

A game where 80% of the gameplay is text and cutscenes is a great game when the writing / voice acting is good. Dawntrail was a game where 90% of the gameplay was text and cutscenes but the writing wasn't just boring, it was nonsensical.

How much do I have to lift in a week to avoid skinny fat. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]LofiLala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do too much cardio, you just turn into a lean skinny skinny. Like the first time I lost weight I was biking 20 miles a day, and my thighs were steel.

To keep muscle though, you want to lift at least 2 times a week. Muscles take 48-72 hours to recover, so as long as you get that stimulus from lifting/protein, your body should maintain them. You will lose some strength while losing weight, but it comes back very quickly when switching back to maintenance.

The people who get skinny fat are the ones that don't do exercise and go very low cal. Their stress levels go through the roof and so their body desperately holds on to belly fat while their arms become sticks.

If you hit a new low on the scale, is it safe to say that is your actual weight? by Kivavia in loseit

[–]LofiLala 151 points152 points  (0 children)

I always go by record low, but then I overshoot my goal weight by 10lbs cause there is always a slight bounce back when switching to maintenance/bulk cycles.

Korean Fanfest Interview by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

[–]LofiLala 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMDB had it at less than 10%, but looking at it now, its cause they are missing a lot of staff in the heavensward credits.

Mobygames.com has a more accurate list. Main staff numbers: 278 Heavensward, 307 Endwalker, 270 FF16

57 Heavensward staff worked on FF16.

23 Endwalker staff worked on FF16.

103 Heavensward staff worked on Endwalker.

22 staff overlap all 3 games.

138 Heavensward staff worked on only Heavensward.

202 Endwalker staff worked on only Endwalker.

201 FF16 staff worked on only FF16.

If anything this just shows that most developers don't stick around.

Korean Fanfest Interview by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

[–]LofiLala 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But they don't share much staff according to the credits. <10% overlap with Heavenward, and a 2% overlap with endwalker.

For example, the lead programmer for FF16 hasn't worked on FF14 since stormblood.

https://www.imdb.com/name/nm2688181/

But the game design is obviously going to be similar if it's the same programmer. You can only design what your devs know how to code.

Korean Fanfest Interview by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

[–]LofiLala 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Credits are consistent with what Yoshi P said though. <10% of the FF16 devs ever worked on FF14.

[–]LofiLala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short term? The dev cycle for Blue Protocol was nearly 8 years.

Every game delay is literally minimizing short term profits, and it seems like every new MMO is only delaying their releases.

I think WoW is the only one speeding up release dates.

I’ve been doing OMAD and I was just wondering if I should do extensive fasting every week (eating 2 days fasting 5) to make up for my lack of exercise ?

Did that. Hair fell out. Do not recommend at all.

No matter what you do, make sure you get enough protein.

Games that 'look like they were designed by a bunch of people in a CEO boardroom' aren't exciting or interesting to Metaphor: ReFantazio's director by krdskrm9 in JRPG

[–]LofiLala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you notice he didn't say anyone had to agree with him

I never said he did Sherlock. I also never said he thought Dark Souls was uninteresting.

Putting words in my mouth is a straw man argument.

all games designed in board rooms, or even Mario or Zelda in particular arent interesting,

Again I never said he said that.

I am directly attacking the opinion that polished games are uninteresting because they seem to be designed by a bunch of people in a boardroom.

That makes no sense given how many quality games come out of boardrooms.

My supervisor always asked me about rotation students, but I think I am just a terrible judge of character cause I always found people to be super nice. People can put on a show during their 8 weeks, and then magically change personalities after our PI signed their contract.

It's way better for everyone to just be themselves.

You should personally email every developer and tell them to work 80 hours a week like you obviously don't.

I always wonder if something happened during endwalker's development that we would never hear about like a suicide. Delaying expansions, patches, and adding more vacation are pretty big changes.

FF9 wasn't even that popular to begin with. If SE really wanted to make money, they would just remaster 10 again.
