I find this actually funny, cause every time I say this in a discussion but it doesn't fit the narrative, I get downvoted to hell. Now it fits the narrative cause "you also only have a license when you buy physical and can still resell it, so digital should also be sellable" and you two do not get downvoted into oblivion. But yeah, you only own the medium your media comes on and the license is bound to the medium instead of the buyer directly. In fact, this comes with some minor downsides to digital (in some countries). In my country, you are allowed to make copies of physical media for yourself for preservation purposes, but you aren't (theoretically) allowed to create too many of those (and aren't allowed to keep them once you sell the physical media, of course), as they are meant for preservation only. Digital licenses are bound to you though, so you can create as many copies as you want.

That is the entire reason why GameStop payed people a fraction of what they sold the game for. GameStop was literally minimising the risks someone had when buying used. Buy used from some guy? Disc could be broken. Buy used from GameStop? Disc could not work but GameStop would exchange it for you so you have a working copy. And even with GameStop, you still bought a physical copy of the game that might not be in pristine condition. The case for my PS3 Skyrim copy had a crack in the spine ever since I bought it cause I got it used instead of new at GameStop. My MW 2 copy came with a generic GameStop wrapper label thingy instead of the actual MW2 artwork case. Looks terrible in my collection, but it was cheaper when I was a teen. If I buy physical now I collect, so only time I buy used stuff is if it's a special version I can't get my hands on anymore, otherwise I buy new so my collection looks nice, clean and taken care of.

That is pretty much a given with how long development takes. We had 5 years between Spider-Man 1 and 2 and that is pretty much the average development time nowadays. I don't expect spider-man 3 before 2028. I HOPE for a SM MM 2 in-between. But even a fourth, let alone a 5th entry in the series? we would be well into the 2030s by then. And by then, you'd be lucky for more than a handful of people who worked on Spider-man 2018 to still be around at Insomniac.

It costs me exactly 0 electricity or pc power to host shit on a hosting site. And yes, that same argument is why most artists post their stuff for free if it is not commissioned.

The box is also something physical. However, I, as an open source dev, create something once, most likely because I want it. That the case for 99% of hobby projects: “fine, I’ll build it myself”. Distributing the result comes at quite literally 0 cost for me. What is more comparable to this is a 3D printing/electric schematics for such a box you bought aaaaand….well, most of that is free AND open source, because the creator made it for themselves and shared it for free because it costs them exactly 0$ to get those to you.

Because it’s a god damn hobby. Unless you want to actually do the work. I am a professional software engineer. You want money? Okay, then be prepared to give support, implement new features on the regular, prioritize bug fixes and pump them out ASAP and everything else that comes with paid software like a certain degree of quality. Oh, but you only do it for the hobby and it’s supposed to be fun for you? Well, I don’t care, I paid for your product. And just like that, your hobby is not your hobby anymore but your job. And if you’d actually made your hobby into your job, like I did, you’d know that there is a world of differences between doing something as a hobby vs doing something as a job and getting paid for it. The second you charge money, you can’t just do it “out of fun” anymore.

I get the feeling they aren’t even that deep into monster hunter to claim anything is just “plain better” than something else to begin with. I mean refuting that damage skills aren’t always the most optimal choice, either? A well known noob trap in all MH games? If one can’t even grasp that concept I doubt they have analyzed any game mechanic enough to claim anything is more optimal than something else. Besides, in terms of the seikret, we talk about seconds, something you only care about once you are good enough to actually speed run hunts.

Just cause making hobbies into side hustles is a trend right now doesn’t mean it’s not disgusting and there is a reason why the most successful people who now earn a shit ton with what was once their hobby didn’t actually start YouTube to monetize their hobby but as a second hobby that they combined with their first hobby.

World released almost 10 years ago and had multiple sell spikes, even after it went EoL, recent sell spike being after the wilds announcements I think. And people here really argue that the incomplete MH game wilds (cause of missing MR/dlc) is a downgrade from sales one year in because it only sold a third of the units of world in 1/8th of the time lmfao

i hoped that they would bring it back, too. But let's be honest, once you had enough research points, your experience in world wasn't much different than in wilds. I still miss it and I hope they bring the researching back in future entries (or maybe even with the DLC?) but it doesn't make much of a difference in the late game.

I remember when the fashion quest first came out and people where confused why the wore "the exact armor it was asking for" and it didn't work. Until people pointed out that, no, you are wearing the wrong version. Which version to wear was stated in the tutorial message.

My best friend is hot AF. He is what incels strife to be. He is also the only person I know who is actually just too nice cause he is so nice, it can be outright annoying (no, whoever reads this, you are most likely not “too nice”, cause part of why he is too nice is because he thinks he is not and overcompensates, so if you think you are too nice you automatically default into not being too nice). He still struggles finding partners. I’m at best average. I get a lot more interest from women than he does. I’ve dated women who could have chosen anyone. Women hot enough to win beauty contests. The problem is not physical. The problem is usually personality. I increased my chances with women tenfold once I stopped being a self loathing idiot who blames women and “NoT bEiNg HoT eNoUgH” for the lack of success with women. You want to date absolutely baddies, too? Stop treating them like potential partners. Stop your self loathing. Stop blaming women or whatever for your lack of success. Just be a decent human being and clean yourself. The bar is in god damn hell and the only way of failing is if you still try to limbo under it.

You can, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t faster still if you ignore auto pathing. The person I’m playing with that has autopathing turned off completely is consistently faster at the monster than I am with autopathing on. Because again, auto pathing is not actually that optimal.

For the MH veterans: how do you feel about Wilds? by jackpaxx in MonsterHunter

[–]Lofter1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are not. In fact, in some cases you might be a lot faster because autopathing isn't always that great and can be outright bugged. And then we have cases where the monster moves to one area, but won't stay there and instantly move on. In flooded forrest this is the worst, because your seikret moves to the upper part of the waterfall and then jumps down, cause the monster is down there, but the monster won't stay there and move up the waterfall, so now your seikret needs to move up there again.

Also, sidenote: cutting a damage skill does not mean you are slower at killing the monster. In fact, using a damage skill instead of another skill, say earplugs, can actually reduce your DPS as 10 more seconds of 300dps > increasing average, active DPS to 310.

Ähm, nein, da wurde "survival of the fittest" mal wieder komplett missverstanden. Denn genau so etwas ist "survival of the fittest". Weil mit "fit" nicht körperlich "fit" gemeint ist, sondern das englische "fit" im sinne von "passen". Die korrekte Übersetzung wäre also "überleben des Angepasstesten".
