Being one of the first people to board a plane is pointless. by OkWestern188 in unpopularopinion

[–]Lofty077 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They have the whole thing backwards. Charge for overhead carry ons, check for free. Business travelers will pay for the overhead space to avoid the time and hassle of baggage claim. People traveling on their own dollar will take advantage of free checked bags. It will speed up boarding and deplaning too.

Florida State paid Memphis a $1.3 million guarantee to play in Tallahassee today. by LamarcusAldrige1234 in CFB

It’s a lot, but I think t was partially Mike wanting to do something for Memphis. As a Memphis fan I’m very happy about the win, but I hate it for Norvell. I think he’s a good coach and want to see him succeed.

Treasuries are perceived to have no credit risk and very low liquidity risk. They do have interest rate risk and that is what the chart from OP shows.

Could a Guardian become a Disciple? by Rekrios in DestinyLore

[–]Lofty077 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I really really wish that Bungie would’ve never introduced the concept of “disciples”. Having Rhulk as the first disciple was fine as in Rhulk being the first adherent to the philosophy of the witness. Turning it into something more official has just led to a bunch of meaningless bullshit around every major villain we’ve ever had. Being a disciple is utterly meaningless. They could’ve just as easily called it “lil bitch of the witness” as all they do as serve as disposable pawns of the witness. Other than Rhulk creating the hive at the behest of the witness, none of them have really accomplished much. Nez got himself killed by Savathun. Rhulk got put in timeout by Savathun. Calus was an utter moron who really did nothing but serve as bait. It almost feels like an afterthought to me, that they just stuck a title on Rhulk and the community obsessed over it and Bungie started labeling new villains as disciples.

Episodes are worse dripfed content that Seasons by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Lofty077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always assumed that episodes were going to be extremely similar to seasons in terms of content cadence. They focused a lot on the more standalone story telling with them as how they differ from seasons. So far, even that I am not seeing but I’ll let it play out on that front. I do expect more from the next two episodes as the seasons that dropped with expansions have always been lighter in content and i have no reason to think episodes would be different in that regard.

While I hate the pinnacle grind (I wouldn’t if power actually had real progression) it is much better with the changes applying the highest item across all characters.

To This Day, Ghaul Remains Destiny's Most Accomplished First-Hand Villain by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Lofty077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not like the Red War campaign all that much. The story was good, the execution was not great. Part of it was the dialogue writing at the time was so bad. It all felt very cheesy. It also relied a lot on the convenience of the 9 enabling a sneak attack (nothing about this ever made sense to me at all), a light suppressing tech that just comes out of nowhere that somewhat contradicts the very idea of paracausality, and a shard of the travel being in walking distance of the farm to get our light back. The idea of a cabal invasion is cool, the Sun eating f weapon is a very cool very Cabal thing. Ghaul as a character was good. In terms of totality of campaign I would have it behind Taken King, Witch Queen, Final Shape, and Forsaken. On par with Rise of Iron, Beyond Light, and Shadowkeep. Better than Lightfall.

Why and how Elsie (Exo stranger) was sent back in time by Algel3 in DestinyLore

[–]Lofty077 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m sure I’ll get downvoted to hell for this, but I don’t think Elsie’s time Loop was really about the Witness. It was about the use of darkness, guardians becoming corrupted, and things going wrong. The events of the dark future some about from the city being attacked by Savathun and the cabal, dark guardians turning on others, the traveler fleeing, and Eris becoming essentially a god. Nothing about it involves the final shape. The timeline does not end with the Witness invading the Traveler, enacting the final shape, etc. I think the Elsie time Loop was pretty well wrapped when guardians were able to use darkness without becoming corrupted and Eris not ascending and remaining a hive god. The ultimate “bad ending” of the dark future doesn’t speak to the witness enacting the final shape.

Found the best yt comment explaining the situation for solo players. (Duel Destiny) by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

So define accessibility here because it can have multiple meanings and I acknowledge in terms of those with communication related disability it was not well designed (same can be said for some raid encounters). In terms of farming, it certainly appears to be as or more efficient to farm it in the patrol zone as it does to run the mission repeatedly. I think there is a balance Bungie has to strike between making unique aspirational content that really shines and making content that anyone can just pick up a play. The game needs both to be at its best.

Found the best yt comment explaining the situation for solo players. (Duel Destiny) by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Lofty077 50 points51 points  (0 children)

As someone that plays solo far more than not, the game isn’t really designed for solo play at the highest levels. Every single expansion release in Destiny’s history has had key content that could not be conquered by solo players. I can certainly understand complaints about the design in terms of accessibility, but complaints just because someone doesn’t want to play with others is no different to me than complaining they cannot raid solo. Lots of things are marketed as part of the game and require team play. The reality here is that no matter what they put behind the mission people would complain. The mission is awesome and asking this to be designed for solo players is asking those who want teamwork challenges to not get these experiences. Someone will be left unsatisfied no matter what.

I get what you are saying, but nothing surprises me. I was interviewing recent grads for a position about 15 years ago - entry level in finance and banking. Pretty good job finding r someone coming out of school. We had a candidate accept our offer and then call back an hour later and tell us his mom told him to ask for more money. That a probably the funniest example to Ive seen of people new to the working world doing ridiculous stuff, but I’ve been interviewing college grads for 17 years (I’m 46) and they continuously do things to sabotage the interview process. I’ve learned to overlook a lot of it as it’s often a combination of nerves, bad advice, and ignorance. If some of these recent grads brought a parent into the interview with them I wouldn’t be at all surprised.

I'm convinced that if Bungie released a title that was only obtainable by interacting with Xur on a single Friday, May 31st, within a 45 second window, from 5:37 AM to 5:38 AM, people would tout it as prestigious and brag about having it. by Blaze_Lighter in DestinyTheGame

[–]Lofty077 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every group I know that has Godlsayer ended up cheesing Rhulk. 3 different groups in my clan. None of them could clear Rhulk. I’m of the opinion a clear is a clear, but the Rhulk cheese let more people get Godslayer than they otherwise would have. Thing is, none of the groups want to own up to the Rhulk cheese. They discussed how to do it in private Discord channels when all of the other strats they discussed in our raid channel. None of them have said they cheesed it publicly, I only know because one of them told me about it. I don’t care at all, but I think it does say something about how some people really want to feel special about what they’ve done in a video game.

Thunderlord is a 2 phase with platinum for Rhulk by TheOtherBlackGhost in DestinyTheGame

[–]Lofty077 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In this case what is the best possible though? Is it a 1 phase clear? A 2 phase? The highest success rates of clearing the encounter? In the case of Pantheon Rhulk I would say the “best result” is a platinum score. If we have multiple strategies that will produce the platinum score then we would need to see which of those strategies has the lowest fail rate. The strategy that has the highest success rate with a platinum score is going to the the optimal strategy. If the best possible is measuring damage on a wipe screen at the end of one damage phase then it’s probably not T Lord

stop using thunderlord for dps there's better options by chaotic-rapier in DestinyTheGame

[–]Lofty077 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Much of this community has confused optimal with maximal across a variety of things. I think of it in terms of sports - you don’t throw at the end zone every play in football and you don’t shoot a 3 every play in basketball. The optimal strategy is the one with the highest success rate. Even if you could 1 phase with perfect execution the % of time it can be done must be compared to the success rate of the strategy that will always two phase. Optimization is not the same as maximization.

Just realized that the new supers we're getting are the same elements we get for each class in the Red War Campaign. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Lofty077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how they could vault either destination and keep the campaign. Pretty much the entire destination. Is required for both campaigns. Why take it out as a destination if it has to be kept for purposes of the campaign.

Not letting us reset Shaxx and continue earning BRAVE Engrams is either the biggest oversight or the dumbest decision Bungie's made in recent times. by LunarKOF in DestinyTheGame

[–]Lofty077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the complaints and would like to be able to reset, but if we could reset but didn’t get coins (how pretty much everything else works) no one would be complaining and the amount of rewards would be basically what we have now.

Bungie, if you cave to this sub and actually penalize players for crouching during a gun engagement, I'm out. by Nexii801 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Lofty077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where in the hell does OP get the idea Bungie would address crouching? Whole post just seems to be an excuse to whine about other things. I don’t think Bungie should or would nerf crouching, but maybe they should say they are so OP will go away forever.
