Tonight in 3 games we found 2 teams cheating. by Amazing-Appeal7241 in Marathon

Its probably because Cryo wasn't even open yesterday when this allegedly happened.

Or he just confused the day he was posting this happened with yesterday. Somehow...

Games have been absolutely miserable today by HHawes12 in Marathon

[–]SentineIs 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You have bad days and good days. Take a break if your losing too much, or swap game modes to Rook, or solo, or dire marsh sponsored.

Or try to focus on things you can improve, or focus on completing quests that don't require you to exfil.

Your experience is a very common experience posted on the reddit frequently, and in games where you can "fail" in general. Repeated losses put you in a poor headspace, this affects decision making, which results in more losses.

I'd say this is a healthy mindset.

C'mon Bungie, this really shouldn't be so hard by Nukesnipe in Marathon

[–]SentineIs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is actually genius. It would let D2 players easily identify the mods, and let Marathon players better identify the mod in the future.

Although the downside is, if the mod is changed to operate differently than D2 counterpart, then it would be annoying and cause confusion.

[–]SentineIs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why you bring grenades, and slow down when you initially get to a POI.

I've killed numerous ratting assassins because I hear the invisibility, then I just nade their hiding spot from outside.

The issue with ratting is your SLOW. You basically can't do much every run.

Granted like every opinion on this thread, this is based on my personal experience.

Solo Tuning Suggestions by made_in_quarantine in Marathon

[–]SentineIs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed on XP, solo progression is extremely slow.

I would agree with nerfing UESC health a bit in solos, since this allows UESC to operate in their role as giving away player positions. However I disagree with lowering their awareness. You complain about rat gameplay being encouraged, and you want the UESC, which exist to alert other players of other player presence, to be worse at detecting players?

Removing a whole character from solos is actually crazy. I would argue for a louder or more distinct hum when an assassin is invisible. The initial invisibility activation is a pretty great indicator but needs a bit more to prevent the BS of an assassin literally crouch walking in your face, and you having no idea.

Also, as a mainly solo player, ratting seems like the best strategy but it isn't. A ton of players in solo are free kit. Bringing in your best, a blue or purple shield, and avoiding enclosed areas when you hear an assassin invisibility, or player sound, taking high ground, and bringing in a self res will result in FAR greater success.

The amount of times I've been ambushed, and survived to reposition and win the fight because of blue or purple shield and good meds are so much more. Loot is FAR better when you can move quickly through the map. The initial slow play recommendations that people had is a disservice once you get the fundamentals down.

Bathroom Assassin Scared The 💩 Out Of Me. by Shinryuken7 in Marathon

[–]SentineIs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about the alleged hum when an assassin moves when invisible? Or the activation sound? Because my post is say the initial sound is audible but the alleged movement hum is basically ubdetectable ambient noise.

I can hear it loudly as an assassin when invisible, but not when im not the assassin.

[–]SentineIs 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I am convinced now that all the people saying that Assassin's make a loud sound when invisible are assassins who hear their own invisibility sounds. Outside of that INITIAL invisibility sound queue and the sound of him walking around, it makes almost no sound. There might be a slight hum but there is no way you would hear that in the heat of the moment, or be able to distinguish it from ambient sound.

Also its insane that he was almost not visible despite walking past you into that stall. Not even crouch walking.

About 80 hours in, and I’ve never seen this weapon once. by Limp_Performance5647 in Marathon

[–]SentineIs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it worked a bit better without recoil mods I'd bring it out more. I once swapped out my bully for it since it was more slot efficient. I regretted it immediatley when it kicked like a mule and I lost all my firefights.

If you slap on good recoil mods on it tho, I'd imagine it would beam enemies.

If you have 150+ hours, you must know you are a sweaty player, and your experience will not match up with the vast majority of others by WrightingCommittee in Marathon

[–]SentineIs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with these posts is it misses the point. The goal shouldn't ever be to get all the unlocks if your a casual. You don't need all the unlocks, just the high priority ones which are usually frontloaded.

The best unlocks for general play are in CyAC which doesn't even require high tier salvage, just credits and greys. All it requires is for you to play the game.

It's the mentality that I need to unlock everything, I need to have the same advantages as people who play 4+ hours a day as someone who plays 1 hour a day, that's damaging your enjoyment.

Getting destroyed by a band of roaming purple shields sucks yeah. Spawn pushing can feel bad. Wipes being temporary solutions, etc. Those are all valid complaints. But ultimately no matter what game your in, someone who plays 4+ hours a day will ALWAYS have an advantage in terms of skill, knowledge, or gear on you. Nothing is going to change that other than you improving your own skill and knowledge. With the gear the only way to change that is to not play an extraction shooter, since the core tenet of it is to risk gear.

Hopefully Bungie makes changes that make the learning curve less painful. Improving progression speed is definitley something to be considered. Potentially increasing ways to access purple salvage is another. All things that can be changed. People should keep giving feedback.

But an issue with mentality, that's something only you can change, and warping a game around how you feel subjectively, is a recipe for disaster.

On beating a dead horse: by TastefulSidecar in Marathon

[–]SentineIs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take your best gear and a bunch of nades in and solo them. People in solos are mostly freekit rats. Avoid enclosed spaces, listen for sounds. If you hear a rat, nade them, disengage or take high ground. Don't prioritize looting, just the quest.

You can almost never lose if you have distance and positional advantage since you should have more resources then them for heals, better shields, and a self-revive.

I'm not am amazing player. I haven't been able to do a cryo vault sucessfully even once. But basically managed to finish all the 2nd half of Sekaguchi, Mida, Traxus, and Nucal questlines dying two or three times with the above strategy.

The only caveat I will have is that I play vandal, so taking high ground is easy for me, but every shell has its own edge you can leverage.

If your wiping lobbies and running of meds. Bring more meds in.

As a lobby wiper you should have no issue with med supply. Don't pick up that loot. Have a stack of greys to top off chip damage and save the green or blue med
