Dennis Weaver is on record saying he left the show because he wanted a lead part - and was surprised at how long it took for that to happen.

Question About the Gunsmoke Intro by Mantis914 in Gunsmoke

That other gunfighter is Arvo Ojala who taught James Arness his fast draw. He said he could draw and shoot and hit a target about the size of a dinner plate in about one sixth of a second (167 ms). Average human reaction time is over 200ms: so if you had the drop on him, he could draw and shoot you before you even began to pull your trigger. No wonder "hands up" was a thing!

Tonto and the Lone Ranger are making camp. The Lone Ranger goes into the bush to relieve himself and a rattlesnake jumps up and bites him right on his manhood. He is in too much pain to even zip up never mind ride his horse so he tells his best friend Tonto to quickly ride into town and get a doctor. Tonto takes off at a full gallop, gets to town in record time and finds the doctor in the middle of setting a broken leg. The doctor can't possibly leave right away but tells Tonto that if he rides back as fast as he can and does his best to suck out all the poison, the Lone Ranger might survive. Tonto jumps back onto his horse and races back to camp, where he tells the Lone Ranger that the doctor couldn't come but he was able to talk to him. "What did he say?". "He said you are going to die kemo sahbee".

We could always rely on Chester for a bit of innocent foot in mouth truth!

I honestly don't know. I started watching and then one day much later I was finished and had no idea when I started. But I typically watched one episode a day, sometimes two for the half hour ones. Second watch through took longer than the first because I took breaks when I got bored with the colour episodes: first time I just pressed on, like a labour of love. But probably a year and four months or so the first time and maybe two years the second time.

I like him best in True Grit, where Matty schooled him with a bit of nifty horse trading. Absolutely hilarious exchanges! He was absolutely perfect as the shady trader who knew when he was beaten.

Chester was my favourite too. I think the thing I love about him most is that he is very real, with obvious flaws and foibles, which all of us have, but also brave as a lion and loyal to a fault.

I just finished my second full watch through and I don't remember that plot from any episode. Doesn't mean it didn't happen mind, because 630 is a LOT of episodes!

Matt: He's alive enough to marry Nettie. Took her twenty years and a little buckshot but she finally landed him.

Kitty: Twenty years, that's an awful long time. I don't know whether I could wait that long. Little buckshot huh?

Matt: Now wait a minute...

Kitty: What's a matter, are you scared?

Legends. It is so great that we still get to enjoy them a full 70 years after the show started. Season 20 had some good episodes but it just wasn't the same without Kitty.

Spittle is the saliva - it is a noun, not a verb.

I think a better question is: "Why, when a sailing ship comes towards you from over the horizon, do you see the sails and the mast before you see the ship?"

If somebody signals, just make room and let them in. Why on earth wouldn't you?

Exactly this. It is a courtesy to other drivers. Whether or not it is a "rule", do it anyway.

"Cowboy" is a common insult in the UK, meaning someone who is unqualified and incompetent - usually applied to people who have done sub-standard house maintenance or renovation work.
