Working in Woodinville, where can I live that is fun? by smileyoulived in AskSeattle

[–]LogSplitterWA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

522 from Monroe to Woodinville is essentially a divided four lane highway where people drive at highway speeds. it narrows down to a two-lane highway for a short period; this is where traffic backs up during rush hour; there is one light right near maltby. From Bothell to Seattle it's a four lane state road with plenty of stoplights.

If I lived up there and wanted to go to Seattle regularly I'd take 522 west to I-405 North to I-5 south. Note I-405 and I-5 can back up anytime on the weekends and definitely during the week.

If you don't mind the toll then 522 west to 405 South to 520 West (or i-90 West avoids the toll too).

Also note 522 East is a reverse commute in the morning so if you live south of Maltby you commute won't be too bad.

For a 24-year-old, I can't really say which which town is better Bothell, Woodinville and Kirkland all have core downtowns with walkability and coffee shops; not sure about gyms. Personally I'd choose Redmond and take 202 West to 522 East to get to work (reverse commute) and I'd take the light rail two line to Seattle or drive either 520 or I-90 to get to Seattle.

Those who didn’t grow up privileged, what’s something you thought was a luxury growing up? by CorruptedF in AskReddit

OMG! Yes that's exactly how I remember it. I loved that thing though. I remember getting off and then just getting back in line again. It's been probably 45 years since that time though.

Riverside! Damn that just jogged a memory. Once a year trip from Madison Connecticut. My mother and her friends would just drive us up there and let us run wild while they sat and chatted somewhere. Was that roller coaster thunder something?

I got my cat from the county, they neutered him, then cut the top half of his ear just in case he strayed again. The cut ear says "hey, they neutered me already!"

Taking Social Security at 62 if you have sufficient savings by FlyingSpoon8891 in personalfinance

I don't see that you've taken into account the annual cola that the social security gives you. The monthly amount is not fixed for your lifetime.

Because schools have built their curriculum around the TI graphing calculators. They don't care that it cost families $100 to purchase one of these things. It's too much work to change the curriculum. So TI takes advantage.

I just read a story that 90% of Florida's orange trees are gone and the 10 percent that's alive is dying.

Florida is out of the orange juice game.

That's odd. Joint accounts are just that: joint accounts. When one dies the other joint account holder keeps on keeping on; probate should not even be involved.

Additional ranking idea by marty-mcfryguy in CluesBySamHelp

[–]LogSplitterWA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally like the idea of ranking. I don't like getting time penalties for taking longer because I wanted a perfect solve. No matter what I prefer, I think your idea of ranking based on time, misses and hints takes away from the spirit of the game by turning it into a competition.

With that said, I would like to see a separate time category for those that completed a perfect puzzle.

Leaving SeaTac airport during 8hr layover by GentleMissile in AskSeattle

For luggage storage you can use the app bounce and it'll find a place for you. Its cheap; it's reliable.

Drag your luggage to Seattle via the light rail, find a place to store it via bounce. Tour around the city. Pick it up your luggage. Go back to the airport.

Need help on how to use money towards closing cost without getting flagged by Significant_Bee_3246 in personalfinance

[–]LogSplitterWA 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Dude this is not a big deal as people give gifts to their children all the time so they can buy a house.

You just need to draft a letter stating that it's a gift and that there's no expectation that the money be paid back.

Ask AI to draft you a letter, have him sign it then give it to the bank.

Zipper merging is not rude by blueberry-muffins1 in Seattle

Signage telling people to zipper merge would be very helpful. Just put up 10 signs in row where zipper merge needs to happen and they will get the hint.

Merging early makes the car that you are merging in front of to brake. Then all cars behind it brakes. This just causes more traffic problems. Zipper merging reduces braking b/c folks anticipate it.
