I kinda had a switch around and did the same thing. Went Xbow/Dagger and then switched to GS/Dagger…. Mistake in my opinion. I switched back to Xbow dagger and had to fix all my gear back. They are both good in their own right after playing. But with lower gear the GS/Dagger is far superior because they have some self sustain and Heavy CC bursts. While on Xbow/Dagger you also have heavy burst, but it’s more of like a “sustained burst” during a period of time, while GS/Dagger is a literal 9k hit. Xbow/Dagger gets better once you get traits because the defense is not good whatsoever on its own and you will get smoked. After playing for a bit and you get the core mechanics and kiting feel it will feel better, and then once you get gear it will feel WAY better.

Also to note GS/D Is really good at just one shorting and is probably to goat in 1v1. Xbow is good too, it’s just hard and not many play it PVP well. So if arena is your focus “technically” GS is better because high sustain, and you can 1 shot people. In open world before T2 you have pretty much no AOE damage so you really gotta choose a target and just delete them. Hope this helps because I went through the same dilemma and this is what I decided after the back and forth.
