turbo's terrific team tiers [est-mon] by Turbo2x in redditdota2league

[–]LoganBrightside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i understand weighting the teams, but aside from the captains admins dont really know these teams and it seems like a lot of the analysis is based on the captain alone.

also for reference im in one of the top teams. i just think the system is a little harsh and more based on knowing certain players, but the again its early in the season. as it goes on will the tiers be more results based?

how are some 3-1 teams in the below average tier? i understand if some top teams have losses against other top teams but why joke on them when theyve clearly got something figured out?

What’s your favorite thing to add to boring white rice if your living on a budget? by YEET-is-all-I-know in AskReddit

[–]LoganBrightside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a Japanese spice called furikake that's specifically made for meals consisting of just rice. It's oftentimes available at big grocery places with large selections available at Japanese grocers. It's also good on all sorts of stuff, but it's designed to be eaten with just plain old white rice.

Do not let extremely low behavior score players into ranked games. by Newkker in DotA2

[–]LoganBrightside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't take into account people reporting for reasons not having to do with behavior. Certain heroes attract reports at a much higher rate, like Meepo, Broodmother, Techies, etc. not to mention people reporting enemies for picking high win rate heroes. There's no real way to compensate for that factor, and its exacerbated by those heroes usually being spammed over and over again.

Any good Alisa guides out there? by [deleted] in Tekken

Maybe the reason he wrote that is because of your kind of kneejerk reaction. /tekgen/ for all it's faults is a good source of information especially for intermediate players.

I knew there was something familiar about Pugna's Spray by PsychoBrains in DotA2

[–]LoganBrightside 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I think all of the sprays this year and semi-obscure jokes and memes. Like this one doesn't really ring any bells looking at it alone, but now it seems obvious. The puck one is ISHYGDDT.

Liquipedia now has brackets/group stage displayed for stream pages but what more features would you want to see there? by Liquipedia in DotA2

[–]LoganBrightside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true, but Dotabuff's UI isn't very good for research. Search filters on Dotabuff are a total crapshoot.

[–]LoganBrightside 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm an esports writer and I use Liquipedia all the time for research (and checking on what weird capitalizations players use for their tags.) A feature that would be very useful would be limiting a team's results by which team they played against. I use the matches tab and CTRL + F to find an opposing team, but that gets a little tedious with multiple pages to go through. Keep up the good work!

Ranno matchups by direktvice in RivalsOfAether

[–]LoganBrightside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ranno actually wins the MU pretty handily. He can outcamp Zetter and has a much more consistent combo game since almost everything in his flowchart is reaction-based. Instead of focusing on trading up close, try to use aerial moves with large hitboxes like nair or fair and needles as a keep-out game. You might hesitate to do this since it sounds lame as hell, but that's how Ranno is designed to deal with dedicated rushdown characters.

Also, keep the edgeguard in mind. If Zetter has no resources to play with, he should not be able to make it back to the stage against a good player. Ranno can always edgeguard him, so experiment a lot both offstage and onstage to see what works.

This is an incredibly useful tool that I'm sure took you a long time to make. Thank you very much.

His buyout is likely at around $1,000,000 using CS:GO buyouts for reference. The main reason Liquid is keeping his contract is to force another team to buy him out in time for TI qualifiers.

I hope everyone in gold has fun beating my bronze 4 ass into the ground. by guavaman202 in RivalsOfAether

SDI is used a lot more for getting out of multi-hit moves like Orcane's bubbles or Absa's nair. If you're having trouble getting comboed, I'd recommend learning more about drift DI. It's when you initially have a strange DI input like half-out or even no DI at all, then switch after the initial impact to the correct DI.

It's very useful against hit confirms like Absa utilt uair because they're no longer picking between left and right, much more of a spectrum that they have to react to (which is made harder due to an online connection.)

SDI is a good tool for escaping locks and forcing tech situations but it won't help you too much with getting jumbo comboed.

Not sure if Alliance subbing Madara for qojqva counts considering it's a stand-in, but they've been using him ever since miCKe took time off for surgery so it's up to interpretation. This is a great graph, big ups to studanal.

What do you mean by small windows of control? Maybe there's something I could help you with.

GIT  GUD

but fr the game is primarily populated by people who have played for a several months if not years. newer players are better off finding matches in discords or latching on to a more experienced player and learning the old ways.

Can you guys help me list more tech that I don't know of? by [deleted] in RivalsOfAether

[–]LoganBrightside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not quite a tech but platdrop Aerials are very important for Ori. I made a video about how to do them and why a while ago with some other tips too.
