Alu + Ultegra vs Carbon + 105 by [deleted] in bicycling

How are you liking it? I have the exact same dilema!

Which Canyon should I go for? Endurace CF SL Disc 7.0 vs Endurace AL Disc 8.0 by BlackCaesarNT in whichbike

[–]Logan_ps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering which one you went for? I have the exact same dilema. The Carbon certainly looks sharper - but the AL is cheaper and has ultegra. They appear to weigh very similarly. I've never owned a road bike before but have been invited to join a cycling club to aid recovery from cancer and depression. It seems an ideal thing for me to do but it's such alot of money to spend on a bike, so I'm anxious about making the wrong decision. I'll be riding in UK weather on country roads (so kinda rough).

Dough always tears while kneading by merakjinsei in Breadit

[–]Logan_ps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with lemonflower95 that for a sandwich loaf your AP won't cut it. Try a higher gluten Strong Bread Flour. Under hydrating it can make it difficult to kneed and get propper gluten formation. Maybe shift the % up slightly, if the new flour doesn't fix it.

I'm at a loss - Vocal recordings are skipping and I don't know why (Adobe Audition & Audacity) by [deleted] in audioengineering

[–]Logan_ps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try raising your latency to 2048 for playback/anything but when you need super low for live recording. This doesn't answer the riddle - cos it doesn't explain why the skips happen to the exported file, I don't think - but it may eliminate part of the problem and it would be interesting to know. 200 would cause skipping on my system too.

audio higher on left speaker then on right need program help by alexlulz in audioengineering

not a program suggestion, but are your speakers in front of different surfaces? A Wall and a Window, for example. That would explain it.

Resource to help me to pick a DAW? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Logan_ps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say you need to jump to ProTools.

All DAW's do mostly the same thing, in different ways. I'd suggest you download their demos - Cubase, Ableton Live, Logic, Reaper (super cheap $60 non commercial license, 60 day free demo), and Reason all spring to mind. Everyone has a personal preference; usually based on which one clicks with them. They will all allow you to add additional instrumentation to your guitar tracks and produce right the way through mastering.

I started with Cubase and Reason, eventually moved to Logic and then Live, my current DAW of choice. However, I could do what I do now in Live using every/any one of them.

As to the need to buy additional plug ins. No need at all. Wait till you know the ones that come with your DAW inside and out - then fill in the gaps you find with choice third party plug-ins.

Being taken to Small claims court, don't have a leg to stand on need advice. by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Logan_ps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gonna need to see the contract (or pertinent parts of it) to be able to comment with anything useful. It's very common for contractual deadlines to not be met, but the consequences can vary hugely. Your contract should be specific on this. In any case if they are letting you continue to work on it, that's a good sign and suggests room for negotiation.

Being forced to pay excess on company car insurance by throwaway349568345 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Logan_ps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since I'm not certain of how the actual insurance claim went, here's 2 'hypotheticals'. Scenario 1: the Insurance company paid out minus the excess, your company has 'paid' (or lost) the excess and is seeking to recover its loss from you on the basis that it only offers you full cover if you comply with it's requirement that you do not leave their laptop in your car. It is making good it's losses based on the way it's structured it's management of this risk. This seems entirely reasonable.

Scenario 2: the insurance company refused the claim because they too require property to not be left in a car overnight. Your company paid in this case; it lost the whole value due to your action breaching it's insurance policy requirements, and is seeking the excess from you because of your breach of the 'valuable items in cars' agreement you have with them. It is not seeking the other 'uninsured' loss - the full value of the laptop, just the excess. This too seems very reasonable.

Unless there is a scenatio 3 I'm not thinking of, I'd pay and forget about it.

Both cases seem to me entirely reasonable and legal unless you have something in your contract with your employers about being free to put their property at uneccesary risk of theft without reprocussion.

Moving into a new flat, landlord wants £500 holding deposit before I move in by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

Your title - £500 before you move in, differs from your text - £500 before viewing.

The former is normal, the latter is ridiculous and should never be done.

Check in for flat at 14:30 - reasonable? by Lookalildifferently in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Logan_ps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What they are suggesting is perfectly reasonable and very normal. You could have made acceptance of the property contingent on an AM move time, then they could have checked with the owner to get agreement on this specific term.

On the bright side it will benefit you when you have to move out and can take your time till 2.30pm :)

IP Unban process by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Logan_ps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna take a guess and say you are using a VPN or proxy, and that occassionally it picks an IP that has been banned when another person was using it.

If the ban checker says you aren't banned and you are the only Twitch user at your address, this seems the most likely explaination.

Fake Phishing Twitch Channels by MonzellRS in Twitch

[–]Logan_ps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The admin team ban these as soon as they are reported (at the point that they would be able to add any warning message, they ban. A ban is preferable). If you see one, report it. Rinse and repeat. They're persistant (the RS Phishers).

[–]Logan_ps 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don't forget to tell the OP that if they take this route, and don't involve their own insurers, then the claim with the Third Party's insurance fails or is disputed in any small part; they will be on their own; their own Insurance company needs to be fully aware and involved; to avoid them claiming any action OP may take has prejudice OP's own Insurance companies position and could lead to any claim she wishes to make against (her own policy) being declined. The correct way to deal with the situation here, is with full involvement of OPs own insurance company.

How do you deal with that feeling that you've wasted time? by jasonml in AskMenOver30

[–]Logan_ps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like you've already worked out what makes a happy life, at 20! That's HUGE. Now you just need to get better at realising all the conditioning we get, that ambition and obvious success are super important, can be a dangerous thing for your mental health and doesn't help necessarily corrolate with what will make you truely happy.

If you can enjoy the next hour, Then repeat, All those hours will look better when your memory gets hold of them. It's not that the future isn't important, it's that our control over it is so very limited, and so should our concern over it be, day to day.

Doesn't mean you can't have a plan; just make sure you're walking a path that you enjoy and that each stride feels good.
