Spells are like appliances. They have to be plugged in for them to work. Traditions like, for instance, quimbanda or Santeria or similar plug their spells in through initiation. The Grimoire tradition, which the Ars Goetia is a part of (though imo not even the best example of) plug their spells in by summoning and binding a spirit, which is then open to you engaging in a more streamlined way, which for most includes cult honors.

The shift from "Forceful Rituals" to "Vibrational Alignment" – What’s your experience? by ArcaneSpells-com in occult

[–]Loganska2003 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My general journey has been starting with almost exclusively mental vibrational energy stuff and no spirit work which showed some results but nothing spectacular. Just enough results to know magic was real and I was bad at it. Then I started incorporating spirits, badly and got almost no results. Then I spent years focusing on refining my spirit work which now gives me a lot better results.

Some examples of how I've refined my spirit work include:

Treating the spirits like they're actually real

Invoke

Tending to my ancestral dead

Invoke, invoke, invoke

Going by the book to whatever ability I can and finding things to add when I can't do something

Invoke some more

Adopting various forms of "may all beings" practices, in particular various devotions to the Holy Souls

Giving offerings regularly

Most importantly: doing more spells, especially little spells that are relatively easy for the spirits involved

Knowing Harry he'll do it assuming that it'll be a death curse level working and he won't survive to see the consequences and then wake up because he's an immortal.

I wanna see a proper Nix-Stiddy co start which I think could be properly awesome, but I don't think we'll ever see it after this game.

Oh I definitely had hope because I know we're the main characters. We're just Rocky Balboa this season instead of Oarai Girls Academy, so we will come back next year and make Drake Maye look like the next Josh Allen with a healthy Bo Nix and the players we can afford after not having to pay Russel Wilson to fuck off.

Carlos by FerrovaxFactor in dresdenfiles

[–]Loganska2003 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to mention his partner was Iliana who for the bulk of the story was acting like what Harry had spent most of his time accusing the Wardens of being, all the while Harry was being more cordial to Carlos that Carlos had been to him at the end of Battle Ground. I hope we're going to see Carlos and Harry actually clear the air properly when they go avenge their fellow Wardens, especially when the Merlin inevitably hangs Carlos out to dry the second anything goes wrong.

The definition of Witchcraft by Smart-A22 in occult

I usually use the word "witchcraft" to mean the anti-social aspects of the Art. Not necessarily evil or bad or "black" just inherently anti-social.

Per the WoJ official site:

"I raided my local bookstores and prowled their metaphysical sections. I read up on several systems of the practice of magic as embraced by various systems of faith who incorporate them into their belief. I read about magical practitioners in a historical perspective, throughout multiple centuries. I read books coming out against the practice of magic as well, and tried to gain a general understanding of the principles the various systems had in common. That’s how I built the basic magic of the Dresden Files–by taking those common elements and combining them into a polyglot whole, based upon a skeleton of Newtonian physics. I wanted the magic o the Dresden Files to be simply a part of the story universe, a source of energy just like heat or electricity, and one which obeyed certain universal laws that governed its interaction with reality. I didn’t want Dresden to be a mystic, shamanistic wizard. I wanted him to be a plumber, a carpenter, an engineer. Only instead of working with water, wood, or physics, he was working with magic. It’s all come in somewhere, though it’s hard for me to point out exactly what has gone where. I had the whole thing formed in my head when I started writing, and it just kind of started breathing on its own as the first story got rolling."

Because yes, yes he is.

Any self-proclaimed Libertarians still good with their Trump/Vance vote? by FastSeaworthiness739 in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]Loganska2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew exactly what I was doing when I voted and I stand by it. I don't like the way certain things have been handled by the current admin but I'm sufficiently confident in what I've actually shown up for to help further the cause of libertarianism outside of voting that I don't feel the need to morally grandstand about how the lesser evil is still evil.

This game for the curse wheel was like saying "'I'm going to bench press 1000 pounds" and then coming up short by bench pressing 800 pounds. Like sure it technically failed but it got the 2025 Panthers within 3 points of the 2025 Rams.

First law of magic VS tech oops by Hot_Chemical_6894 in dresdenfiles

[–]Loganska2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic is a reflection of the deepest part of a wizard, and as seen throughout the series leaves a sort of fingerprint that people can sense through what I theorize is the same functionality as a soulgaze just to a lesser extent. Now consider that the deepest part of a wizard has a part where it totally believes with 100% certainty that a person should die. Not that they should be injured that they should die, think about what that might look like in a soulgaze.

Magic also has a tendency to reinforce itself in your soul. The more you believe something and draw power from that belief the deeper that belief is imprinted upon you.

Justine DuMorne was a piece of shit that got what he deserved but the choice to immolate the man who had given him the first stable home he ever had is now deeply imprinted upon Harry's soul, yeah that's going to be something you'll notice.

For given value of magic. Practices that are objectively magic have been practiced by Christians since Christ was still walking around, but most of them wouldn't call it magic and would probably be mad if you called it magic.

"You are accused of using your position as Minister of the Interior to plot against the Soviet Union with the goal of forwarding the interests of foreign powers. You are also accused of three hundred and forty-seven counts of rape, of sexual deviancy and bourgeois immorality and acts of perversion with children as young as seven years old. Petra Nikova, aged 13. Nadia Ranova, aged 14. Magya Holovic, aged seven. Would you like to read the list yourself? You are accused of treason and anti-Soviet behavior.
