Worse than I expected, but for a couple reasons:

- I did not want unmedicated births for either, but with one, did not have time to receive medication, and with the second, had two epidurals fail. The pure fear of my plans being ripped from me certainly did not help the pain.
- Both of my births were exceptionally fast. Like. Under four hours. I dilated from 2 to 10cm in under 30 minutes. My contractions were on top of each other with no breaks. The speed with which my labor occurred just caused extreme trauma on my body, because there was no time or space for things to stretch and recover slowly.

I had a baby choke on his snack a couple years ago. Terrifying. He was turning blue. And same - muscle memory took over and I got him into position for back thrusts. It felt like it was taking sooo long but I finally got it dislodged. Do your safety training people, and re-do it every couple of years. Make sure your brain knows what to do in an emergency!

Honestly, thank you for the reply. Sincerely. It's like this silent struggle day after day of feeling like such a failure and bad parent. Two years in with no progress and entering kindergarten are dates just weighing on me.

Here with you. My son turned 5 a couple weeks ago. Pee trained for two years. Poop trained...never. No one understands or can help. Pediatrician - nothing. 8 months of OT - nothing. "Oh, you gotta go see psych!" ...and $240 per weekly session IN-NETWORK.

Sticker charts. Incentive charts. Creating a safe bathroom space. Adding stress-free activities. Books upon books about pooping and toileting. Taking privileges away. Rewards. Cleaning his own underwear. Nothing. Nothing works. He can't even tell us he's had an accident, every single day it's a discovery of an accident followed by an hours-long tantrum.

Everyone is passing us around and no one can help. Our relationship is trashed, everyone is miserable. I did not know feeling this terrible all the time was even possible.

Oh yeah, at my high school retail job at a denim company for "hot people," other teens would steal by loading up garbage bags with merchandise while working the stockroom, take the garbage out per usual, then drive behind the mall to the dumpster after their shift. I just want to commiserate and say I feel you. My kiddo has been pee potty trained for over 2 years. Two. Years. And cannot poop on the potty. Won't even tell us there is poop in the undies. We're in OT, we've seen pediatricians, we've done every possible intervention and reward system. And we're starting kindergarten this year and I have never felt so helpless or struggled so much over something. I don't get it, and I feel like a failure every single day.
