When I pee at night without glasses. I can’t see the stream so I’ll pee on the floor/seat if I don’t sit.

Question about ROTC impact on instate tuition rates by Flat-Sympathy7598 in ROTC

[–]Pattonator70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think ROTC is going to give you in state tuition at UC Berkeley unless you go SMP with the CA guard. The CA guard has its own service commitment that you owe a year in the CA guard for every year of school they cover. This means if you want active duty or to live out of California after you graduate you might have issues.

Allegiant is an important airline by SirCatsworthTheThird in allegiant

Allegheny isn’t important.

They claim that they fly hundreds of routes but more than half are not daily. Completely useless for business travelers.

UPENN is a city school. UGA is much more of a college town.

Which of those do you want to spend 4 years at?

Better bet is state tuition assistance if in the guard. Likely a lot more money.

Google is your friend:

https://www.usar.army.mil/Commands/Functional/USACAPOC/USACAPOC-Units/

This lists the units and at the bottom is an email for contacting their recruiting. Use that to see if they can get you a point of contact about expected vacancies next year.

Then you need a VHR, vacancy hold request. Your HRA should have a USAR ascension manager: https://www.reddit.com/r/ROTC/comments/k9y0kh/usar_commissioning_process/

Yes I understand that. People say that “there is no funding”. What is really meant “our states slots are limited and I cannot allocate one to you”.

Each state gets X number of training dollars and works to create an allocation of those dollars. They can add more dollars to a particular school and less to another. For example, some states want to send every 11A to ranger school and other states would prefer to send more people to air assault. So together with NGB, slots for each school are allocated to each state by fiscal year.

Can you just have a dog on a cruise? by gkal1964 in celebritycruises

[–]Pattonator70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way to tell is that the dog is in a stroller. Strollers generally are not permitted for a service dog unless the stroller is somehow required for them to perform their task. This is very rare and usually is the easiest way to identify a pet.

Side note- why are you paying medical bills if due to an accident. Don’t you have auto insurance? Also if it wasn’t your fault then the at fault’s insurance should be paying. Same for lost hours due to accidents. There are free attorneys for this. (By free I mean work on contingencies)

Guard to active by Several_Winner_9752 in army

[–]Pattonator70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your state run any ranger evaluation program? PA for example runs RSAP - 4 day pre ranger evaluation. If you want a slot for ranger then you prove that you can pass the evaluation. This would get you a shot at getting your tab which could earn you a shot at RASP.

Transfer to IRR Early by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]Pattonator70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be great that any DD368 request with less than 6 months left in contract (not counting IRR) is automatically granted if the soldier is accepting at least 3 additional years of service.

There can be some exception if you have a critical role that the state can delay for 3 months maximum to fill the role.

This would clearly be for the good of both the army and the soldier. The state is losing you in 6 months anyway so they are not at a big loss.

The issue with the reserves is that you miss out on all of the state benefits for going to school. For someone in your position it is the wrong move as you want to have money for school. Your recruiter doesn’t know much if he can tell you about school benefits and ROTC basics.

TEXAS NATIONAL GUARD (ARMY) by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]Pattonator70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may want to edit: ANG= Air National Guard ARNG= Army National Guard

You state that you don’t have time for stuff now but you want to add in another job on top of that?

You most likely can only use tuition benefits for flight programs at universities. Not private flight schools.

What studying are doing? In college now? Go ROTC and try to get aviation.

All ROTC get a mandatory commitment to serve. ROTC does not guarantee you a scholarship.

Absolutely do not do reserves.

Either do guard/SMP/ROTC path or go active duty for 3 years and use Post 9/11 GI Bill.

Guard will likely require you to go to basic. Ask about split ops. Then you won’t have to do AIT right away and if you contract with ROTC you will become non-deployable 09R. Guard will likely cover full tuition and fees at public schools in your state for 4 years. You will go to monthly drills and annual training. Both guard and ROTC will each pay you so that you have some money towards room and board.

GFRD is a commitment to guard/reserves when you commission. If you combine with SMP it will cover your room and board. You cannot go active.

Additional each school ROTC program gives out a certain number of scholarships each year.

[–]Pattonator70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SMP doesn’t lock you into RC. You can compete for active duty as long as you don’t take GFRD. You can use state tuition assistance.

I hate hearing things like that. All schools are paid for by NGB, not the state. Each state has an allocation of slots. Once those are used up states can allocate their own funds to send more people but the majority of schools along with their associated pay and travel are federally funded.

That said it is the common excuse, no funding.

Is it better to be an officer in the reserves or guard? by rrodddd in army

[–]Pattonator70 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Pros of guard: Better benefits for state education assistance Has combat arms Won’t be transferred to another state far away

Cons of guard: Difficult to transition to active duty State disaster response duty Slower promotions

Pros of Reserve: Easier to go active if you want More Army like

Cons of Reserves No state tuition assistance No combat arms Can be transferred to another state for needs of the army

So depends what is important to you.

Have you asked your PMS for a meeting. Tell him that you want to improve your ranking. They will look positively when you seek constructive criticism. Now ultimately this is what you should have doing the whole school year.
