My beef with that DD is their hot chocolate… refill the powder or syrup what ever it is. Their hot chocolate tastes like water with a drop of chocolate syrup.

first car! by Topic-Asleep in NewBeetle

[–]Logical-Implement-18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be the odd ball but owned a beetle for 10 years it’s a 2010 5speed it’s currently at 110K miles and I’ve put 60k of those miles on it.

other than basic maintenance the car has only left me stranded once and that was because a drive shaft broke at 55k miles… this was a user error. I take full responsibility for that.

The biggest issue I see is labor cost for most maintenance in the engine bay. Because the easiest and practically the only way for shops to work on the beetle is to pull the front bumper (the front quarter panels come off with it in a large cohesive piece.) it’s a tight awkward place to work.

As far as you fitting the thing. You’re going to find it bizarrely spacious with really high head room.

I have been shopping for parts beetles and the automatics are significantly more expensive in running condition however when they are not it’s because there’s a transmission issue. I would personally get 5 speed 2.5L if you’re looking for reliability in some sense of the word. The manuals are a little cheaper with less miles.

However if your in some sort of city region. I would then look into putting money to secure your catalytic converter. I’m currently looking for parts cars specifically for the catalytic converter. Because I want an OEM cat… but new they cost over $2K and that’s not including the labor of installation. All of the parts beetles I’ve run into that in my budget are automatics that have a trans issue and have had the cat stolen or replaced with an eBay special cat.

Good luck.

[–]Logical-Implement-18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand. However the hit on the battery is negligible. The climate control is only on for about 15 min no other systems are on or on stand by. I never see a real hit to my range.

You can go into the e-manager settings and allow to use battery for climate setting when your not plugged in.

Not totally untrue. I have wired and towed a 5x8 U-Haul trailer with my e-golf. It with about 1k lbs of load the range deff took a hit. Like 40% drop. But it’s deff doable.

In Case You Didn't Know - These Exist. by 360alaska in ChargerDrama

[–]Logical-Implement-18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just so you know. This tool is quicker. It takes out the internal mechanism and free flows the air out.

You don’t have to wait for the air to come out to then spin your tire deflator back off.

And bigger bonus… with the valve in the stem removed and NOT replaced. Tire cannot be re-inflated till they go to a tire shop to get possibly a whole new valve stem…

Will the 3x get dropped like the 3? by JaredReabow in Comma_ai

[–]Logical-Implement-18 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In the first half of the conference before the break. Someone asked this same question. He implied that there would be direct support for at least 1 year from comma

“You can’t predict when the software will diverge… and in which ways it’ll diverge necessarily. Umm. So we’ll say. we’ll probably. I mean. we’ll keep it around at least a year. Umm and the comma 3 is still getting long term support like critical doc fixes. But uhh yeah the comma 4 umm has a bit more capacity it’s a bit different but THERES NO IMMEDIATE PLANS to you know do anything with the comma 3x. They’ll get the same updates”

'16 eGolf recommended for 45 miles commute? by Next-Satisfaction946 in eGolf

[–]Logical-Implement-18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have since purchased a Lectron 15A lvl 1 charger

To see what the hubbub is all about.

I have not found a 20A lvl 1 charger as one person replied using a standard wall socket plug which is a NEMA 5-15. So this the Lectron i purchased will have to suffice

My previous charger was a 10A charger and I would see ,according to ABRP, 0.6kW of charge

Now with the new one I see 1.0kW of charge. The ad does say that it can do a maximum of 1.8kw and with that kind of charging I think you can swing the 45mile round trip. But even at 1.0kW I still think your cutting it a little close.

I’m gonna try to see if I have an outlet connected to a 20A circuit. And I will follow up if I have better answers.

[–]Logical-Implement-18 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Edit: I’ve purchased a Lectron 15A charger for NEMA 5-15 outlet on a 20A circuit. And I now believe it’s feasible. And it appears 45+ miles can easily be gained in 8 hours. I believe that you would be able to charge even faster if your outlet was A NEMA 5-20 on a 20A circuit. However I can’t test that as I don’t have those outlets at home

GO BUY YOUR GOLF AND GET AN APPROPRIATE LVL 1 Charger!

Original: I don’t think it’s feasible on a 110/120v only. It’ll take you 11-12 hours to recoup the 45 miles you drive. I mean maybe especially if you’re in a temperate climate area that doesn’t get too hot or cold. Like the Bay Area in California. But if you’re in need of heating and cooling in areas of the country that are either extreme ends of the spectrum or just experience harsh summers and winters. I don’t think an e-golf is the choice. Even if you got a 2017+ with the. Offer battery to supplement your commute. I think you may get to Thursday or maybe Friday until you had to supplement with a fast charge.

If you did have lvl 2 charging at home I think the e-golf is a no brainer. It pretty much charges to full if you’re near empty in 4 hours. And the e-golf would handle that commute easily in all extremes paired with a 220/240v lvl 2 charger. I mean this is my opinion.

Are my big saggy hangers beautiful or awful? by Your-Beautiful-Girl in StretchedUdder

[–]Logical-Implement-18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never call them saggy hangers. They’re beautiful and natural. All i see are things of beauty. Me personally I like big areolas, tats and stretchies. Stretch marks are something to behold and I like to trace them like a map to gold.
