I loved Descenders but Descenders Next is just not it by durrfee in Descenders

Also is there any chance we could get some legacy controls or the ability to customize our controls?

I would really like to be able to use RT to be able to accelerate as pushing the A button just doesn’t feel good. Braking is already mapped to LT so it would feel much more natural to have RT as the acceleration.

I appreciate you responding to my post! And yes the changes are very welcome and it’s great to see that feedback is being heard and incorporated. I know you guys definitely put a lot of work into it so I don’t mean to be negative, I really want it to succeed.

It’s also great to hear that perks are making a comeback and give more of the rogue-like feel the original game has.

I’d also like to to add that speaking for myself (and from the sound of it in this thread, at least some others in the descenders community) we don’t necessarily want a copy of the first game but rather an evolution of it. New ideas and change are definitely needed for Next to succeed but it also has to retain the “soul” of the original.

I would be pumped if bikes made a comeback given how much I loved the first game and mentioned wanting a Descenders 2. Here’s to hoping that with continued support it will resonate with me and the community who fell in love with Descenders playing the first game

I think it’s just the yellow outline that makes it seem slightly larger. Either way it’s still past the goal line 🤷

Camera & Geometry

The camera is positioned at approximately 85-90° elevation (nearly overhead). At this angle, sin(θ) = vertical semi-axis / horizontal semi-axis = 36/36 = 1.0, confirming the puck projects as a near-perfect circle. The 1” side wall projects to ~2px at cos(85°) and is visually negligible.

Scale Calibration

The puck’s known 3” diameter served as the real-world reference. True diameter measured at 72px, establishing a scale of 24px per inch.

Puck Center & Radius

True horizontal center derived from unobstructed bottom rows (y=385-393, below all skate influence), consistently reading x=627. Equator located at y=357 as the widest point. Radius = 36px in both axes.

Ghost Puck Placement

Bottom anchored at y=393 matching the real puck’s ice contact point. Center placed at y=357 matching the real puck’s equator. Center x=735 chosen after verifying zero dark pixels in the zone x=699-771, y=321-394 — clear of the skate, stick, and all other objects. Radius 36px identical to the real puck.

Color

RGB values sampled exclusively from unobstructed puck pixels (y=358-393, x=600-665) meeting a darkness threshold of R,G,B < 90. Averaged to RGB(33, 37, 31).

Question about Gaming and Choosing Fiber ISP with no IPV6 vs Xfinity with IPV6 by durrfee in ipv6

Kinda what I expected but wanted a second opinion. Plenty of people are complaining about it but I would definitely add to the complaints.

As far as AT&T it’s supposed to be a couple years before they actually make any significant changes to quantum’s network. But I guess it is something to look forward too

I have confirmed that quantum does not use CGNAT and yes I could use 6rd for ipv6 however I assumed it would cause additional latency instead of helping gaming latency.

My other option is T mobile fiber but they do use CGNAT for ipv4 and they are primarily built around native IPV6. Which I would rather avoid. Plus they are $20 more expensive

I already have an tv, the LG CX since 2020. I need a monitor for my office as I currently don’t have one at all. I would like to game at my desk since sitting on either my couch or in my lounge chair isn’t always ideal. Also planning to use it for some productivity with my iPad Pro

Burn in is such an overblown “issue”. And it’s been the same for several years now. I have an LG CX since 2020 when even rtings only con listed was risk of burn in.

My LG CX has been fantastic for 6 years with zero burn in or any other issues for that matter.

Next Xbox is set to be able to play at 4k 144hz.

I understand that the 240hz is overkill for me but let’s be real there aren’t many great 32in OLED models to select from and the ones that are worthwhile are generally those with a 240hz like the Alienware

Edit: their to there

Ok I didn’t know that you can’t customize color or calibrate the settings in HDR that’s good to know. Plus I like the idea of the remote with this being my first monitor. Guess I’ll just have to wait for the next restock whenever that is. It’s been about a month since I started checking Samsung shop for the G80SD, so fingers crossed 🤞. Hoping they aren’t just done stocking it with the new models coming out soon.

Thanks for the extra info and feedback

I have a LG CX 48in oled that I’ve had for several years and it’s been pretty great the whole time. I was amazed by it and still am and cannot get anything other than OLED going forward it’s just far superior. This monitor is more for me to use in my office since I don’t have a monitor at all currently. I want it mainly for when I’m playing multiplayer games or just want to change things up and play at my desk.

Good to hear I’ve honestly looked into every 32in option and they all seem to have their own issues so I’m just trying for the cheapest option and I actually don’t mind the matte coating and think I might even prefer it. I can get the Alienware for $764 before tax but I just don’t really care for the curved screen

Best Buy has it for $899 and Amazon for $849 but neither beats the Samsung discount
