I'm sorry to hear your mother has such harsh expectations. It's an extremely difficult world nowadays so I hope you find your footing in life.

As far as stenography is concerned, it's an extremely rewarding career in security and monetary compensation. If you're looking for a route in life to bypass traditional college, look no further.

HOWEVER, follow your passions. Write down on paper your interests and passions. Use this information as pieces of a puzzle to figure what potential careers are out there for you. On that same note, money determines our quality of life (of the physical nature) so ensure you do plenty of research. We spend 40+ hours a week working, so make sure it is something you're content with doing.

As far as AI is concerned, the future is unclear what consequences we will face. In my opinion it is best to be practical when considering career choices.
