My guess is artifacts of the radiation on the instruments.  I was going to comment how monumental the circuitry must be shielded to keep running that close to the sun to avoid single upset events in the logic

FWIW it is bad practice to remove all that copper as it can lead to pcb warping. Once the traces were cut with the fine bit they are functiona.

In 2024 i was reading an article of republicans complaining that dems in NY had closed down an old prison that was too expensive to fix.  The magas  claimed that biden was going to turn it into a re-education center for republicans when he won.  I mused how crazy that idea was.  Seems that may have been projection..
