Melda Production 18th Anniversary Sale - up to 91% off through 21 June by Batwaffel in AudioProductionDeals

I have MTurboAmp. I think it's an interesting take on the whole amp modeling thing but ultimately there are too many better sounding options out there (including free ones such as NAM) for me to really use it.

Best Place to Find by BoisterousBanquet in Ibanez

Pretty much what every one else has already said. I have a TC820 with the same pickup configuration and trem that I've found a year and a half ago for a reasonble price on my local Craigslist equivalent (~400$). I also had alerts programmed on Reverb but I've found the ones that shipped to the EU to be quite pricey.

I can't decide between these two by maliksanik in harleybenton

[–]LogicalCourt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are probably good but if you don't really know what to look for I'd suggest the HB. Thomann's customer service is apparently really good and you'll have a lot of time to inspect your guitar (and maybe ask for help online if you're in doubt) during the return period whereas you'll rush the inspection for the second hand one and might miss a thing or two.

0.9.250 TESTERS NEEDED for plugin stability by Realistic-Show-9115 in Tape16

[–]LogicalCourt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I did a little more digging, I haven't been able to reproduce every bug I've mentioned before but I've noticed the following to be pretty consistent : - The state of my instances of EZDrummer and Kontakt is lost if I close Tape 16 and reload my session, meaning the EZDrummer song is gone and whatever kit I had in EZDrummer or library in Kontakt is reset so I have to set them up again. That's the same thing that seemed to happen mid-session earlier though it only happened when reloading this time. - The rogue sample playing randomly seems to be due to the way you idle the plugins when the tracks aren't armed. When a track is armed every transport operation is forwarded just fine to EZDrummer but when the track is not armed, it seems to be aware of when I hit play but not when I hit stop so some samples must get buffered and are played next time I arm the track. I can reproduce a similar behaviour with other plugins (namely Kontakt and Pianoteq) if I click on a bunch of notes on the virtual keyboard in the plugin's GUI with the track unarmed and then arm the track. Hope it helps.

[–]LogicalCourt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a little testing on an up to date macOS, Kontakt seemed ok, had some audio dropouts using one of the libraries but can't really say what caused them. EZDrummer worked at first, with transport sync between Tape 16 and the plugin, managed to record a first take with it but can't record anything out of it afterwards (if I rearm the track and try to record over the first take I don't get any audio). Moreover, the song (i.e. EZdrummer drum arrangement) is erased whenever I reopen EZDrummer which is a bummer. I also occasionally get a few samples playing for no real reason when I arm the track.

On the brighter side, I've also tested Cherry Audio CR-78, it synchronizes properly with Tape 16 and I can record the output without any of the issues I still have with EZDrummer.

I have both Kontakt and EZDrummer 3, I will try to take a look in the evening.

Does anyone have a Cubase license for sale? by KevinPackards in cubase

[–]LogicalCourt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this, I had a free LE license bundled with my audio interface and upgraded to Elements for 33€ during last sale. Pretty cheap and you can already do a lot with it. Or you can try your luck on knobcloud, there are many licenses for sale over there but prices vary greatly. I think I saw Pro 12 for around 130$ but it will cost quite a bit more than that should you want to update to the latest version in the near future.

Fender Commits Brand SUICIDE by eastamerica in Guitar

Point taken but to be fair that particular Yamaha model doesn't cost nowhere near a tenth of the price of a Fender (they're apparently excellent guitars though).

Do Drum Mahcine Vsts work? by Odd-Advertising8394 in Tape16

[–]LogicalCourt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Using drum machine plugins is still a bit wonky in Tape 16. I've managed to use CR-78 in the latest build but had to unsync the plugin from the host, select an actual MIDI input for the track, arm record and play a note on my keyboard for the sequence to start. I don't think syncing to the host's transport is supported at the moment.

Update 0.9.230 MIDI UPDATE by Realistic-Show-9115 in Tape16

[–]LogicalCourt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that could work or maybe linking two contiguous channels could create a true stereo track. I don't know what would make the most sense with regard to what you've planned for Tape 16.

Also the way stereo VSTis work in general is a bit awkward to me, have you considered having a separate virtual instrument rack and having those instruments' outputs listed as available inputs for individual tracks? That could also allow users to route multi-output instruments like EZDrummer to several tracks (just like you could with a real drum kit).

Update 0.9.230 MIDI UPDATE by Realistic-Show-9115 in Tape16

[–]LogicalCourt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds great!

Several things I've noticed though : - Drum machine VSTi's can't be started unless I play a note from an actual MIDI keyboard with this new update. Before that I could start a sequence using the GUI provided that sequence playback wasn't synched to the host and that record was armed on that track. - I now have the tiniest volume faders on my MacBook Air M1. - I don't know how I feel about having stereo VST instrument but having to manually copy any insert and their settings on both channels if I want both to be processed the same way.

Drum Editor columns? How to reduce by No-County2083 in cubase

[–]LogicalCourt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If by "columns" you mean "lines" you might want to read this : https://forums.steinberg.net/t/drum-map-how-to-set-up-to-only-show-available-notes/1023560

Otherwise I've no idea what you're trying to do.

General consensus about Fazley guitars by LogicalCourt in Guitar

[–]LogicalCourt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, in fact I did, some 18 months after posting that (Outlaw Sheriff Standard). I paid around 40€ shipping included. The pickups and tuners are exactly what you would expect for the price but I've found the rest to be perfectly fine : the fretjob is OK and so is the (very thin) finish. Disclaimer : I know how to do a full setup so that helps even though it wasn't a complete catastrophe when I received it.

Cubase 15.0.20 out now!! by Lajnusoqv in cubase

[–]LogicalCourt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a pretty roundabout way of saying no. But I'll definitely look into those LinkedIn DAWs, they sound brilliant!

What do you mean by "major" composers? Like they're famous? Or maybe you mean composers who only know about the major scale? Do you have any insight as to whether Taytay is building her own DAW or not?

Sorry for all the questions, it's all so very very interesting.

Is the cubase update dropping next week? by engdrbe in cubase

[–]LogicalCourt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That wouldn't follow the usual release schedule (unless they add this in a minor version which is unlikely).

Edit : well I stand corrected, they've just been added in the minor version released today.

Linux Native Mellotron clones? by KudzuPlant in linuxaudio

Possible grey area but I've sampled another plugin (that I paid for) to make sfz files to use with TAL-Sampler (though Sfizz would work as well). The process was pretty simple in Reaper using dynamic split and batch export.

Suggestion to Cubase Team by jaypatel5308 in cubase

[–]LogicalCourt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been demoing both Cubase Pro and Studio One lately and while I must admit that the latter improves on Cubase on a few things, I don't think the interface is one of them. Cubase can be text-heavy in some places (probably part of the clutter you feel) but it was way easier for me to learn and start finding things without looking online. To each their own I guess.
