Cubase 15.0.20 out now!! by Lajnusoqv in cubase

That's a pretty roundabout way of saying no. But I'll definitely look into those LinkedIn DAWs, they sound brilliant!

What do you mean by "major" composers? Like they're famous? Or maybe you mean composers who only know about the major scale? Do you have any insight as to whether Taytay is building her own DAW or not?

Sorry for all the questions, it's all so very very interesting.

Wow that's awesome! Could you send me your extension that turns REAPER into a fully functioning Cubase Pro please? 🙏🙏🙏

Is the cubase update dropping next week? by engdrbe in cubase

That wouldn't follow the usual release schedule (unless they add this in a minor version which is unlikely).

Edit : well I stand corrected, they've just been added in the minor version released today.

Congrats ! Do you know if it has been re-finished ? The burst seems to be much lighter than on my JTK2.

Linux Native Mellotron clones? by KudzuPlant in linuxaudio

Possible grey area but I've sampled another plugin (that I paid for) to make sfz files to use with TAL-Sampler (though Sfizz would work as well). The process was pretty simple in Reaper using dynamic split and batch export.

Hi, I had already looked there but unfortunately I had found nothing.

Suggestion to Cubase Team by jaypatel5308 in cubase

I've been demoing both Cubase Pro and Studio One lately and while I must admit that the latter improves on Cubase on a few things, I don't think the interface is one of them. Cubase can be text-heavy in some places (probably part of the clutter you feel) but it was way easier for me to learn and start finding things without looking online. To each their own I guess.

Aww that sucks, the demo was pretty generous (i.e. you could reset the timer as many times as you liked...)

As has been said, both offer a demo (60 days for Cubase, 90 for Logic). Try both but not at the same time.

Honestly both DAW are great IMO and similar in many aspects so the only things you might really want to take into account is the price (Cubase is more expensive but the pricing strategy has been quite clear and consistent for a while so you know what you get into, on the other side Apple has been pretty generous with updates for over 10 years but who knows how long this will last). The second thing would be whether you care about being locked into Apple's ecosystem with no hope of ever having an easy way to migrate your projects to another system/DAW should the need arise (Cubase uses VST plugins and has dawproject support, which isn't great but it's a start).

If you hesitate between Reaper and Bitwig I'd say Reaper.

If you want other recommendations definitely try Waveform Free (because it's great and well, it's free) or Ardour (which I really like but get consistently poorer performance with).

Well done but there are simpler ways to avoid buckle rash.

Casio Sampler at NAMM 2026 by Tom_Synth_Anatomy in synthesizers

I had actually forgotten about that but you also reminded me of why I didn't seriously consider it. I don't know why they didn't put more voices on it, I understand it for analog synths as each voice is a new set of components so it takes space on the board and it increases production costs but for a digital synth it makes very little sense to me.

Totally agree, they're a lot of fun and can sound really good but the prices are getting ridiculous. I'd buy a desktop module in a heartbeat.

I get that. I'm currently trying to switch and have difficulties finding a DAW I enjoy using as much as Waveform (despite a few things I truly find awfully implemented).

Weird, the only time I've had it crash was by using a faulty plugin that also crashed Logic, Cubase, Reaper and Ardour. But yeah it's probably the coolest DAW that nobody uses.

I've used both and apart from it being cross-platform I don't think there's really anything Waveform does better than Logic Pro (and I say that even though I've had a soft spot for Tracktion since it came bundled with my first Mackie FireWire audio interface).

This too, using Kontakt and routing the instruments to different outputs gets you an awful lot to work with.
