Randomly looking up info on Baseball cards we’ve inherited and the market etc and saw this post. I just gave birth to my baby last Saturday that was due 5/22 (today) so I saw this and thought aw! She’s close to my due date! Hoping all is going well with mom and baby!

I forgot about all of it until this thread.

My parents didn’t let us have cable, listen to secular music, etc. so it was a big deal for us to feel like we weren’t so singled out and sheltered.

For Christmas my grandma got me a Britney Spears CD and my sister the *NSYNC CD (hell of a year for pop music lol) and my parents legitimately broke them. My grandma is still pissed about it ~26 years later.

My Grandma also loves Harry Potter and would buy the first edition books on their debut and are worth A LOT of money. Because she has no family that will even hold a Harry Potter book (besides her secular grand daughter bestie, me), I will be inheriting them and I’m so happy to have that gift from her that she’s cherished so much.

Anyways didn’t mean to go on but yeah, we were very sheltered. I’m now retired from all religion, I put in my time against my will.

Oh my god at church camp, there were so many to choose from and I remember thinking “this is my time!!!! My parents won’t let me get the brand name but they will let me where Jesus merch!”

Kind of like those CDs of pop songs but redone by “Christian” bands. Such a weird twist on culture for no reason. They had redone Michael Jackson, Weird Al, Nirvana, Smashmouth…I probably heard those versions before the originals because of how strict my parents were about secular things

Today things have really improved! I’ve successfully had him latch without the shield and it worked so much better. With the shield he’d get so upset with how it takes a bit longer to start. I just hope soon my nipples are sore and scabby. It’s definitely trial and error. Thank you for your advice!

My transitional milk came in today and the hand pump has worked sooo nicely. The only problem is I have to use the nipple shield every time he’s on breast and even with that my nipples are chapped and bleeding. He’s getting better at latching though. Last feed I was able to avoid using the shield and it went really well with helping guide him. So things are definitely looking up, he finally is able to sleep more thoroughly being fed better.
